Question about Eureka 431A Optima Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

I got this vacuum second hand. I noticed that it is *really* loud. So loud, I wonder if there is a problem. Perhaps with the motor. How could I find out if there is something wrong before I blow the motor?

My DysonDC25 no longer picks up,not even through the wand. It's making a loud sound.I've replaced the filters, and the brush head was replaced 3 months ago.I've checked for blockages. What could it be?

All vacuum cleaners reach a point where they have to be taken all apart and cleaned, as they plug up internally.
Sounds like that is what you have.
You will need to find some really good compressed air, a really good shop vacuum, and perhaps some tools like wire coat hangers and plastic probes, etc., to take it apart and clean it out.
God bless your efforts.

Is the motor shot when it makes a loud noise?

Hi! If you notice a change in your motor's pitch, that may mean your filter needs cleaning. Try removing the filter and tapping it clean in your waste basket. If that doesn't help, just let us know. You can reach us here on Fixya, at Facebook.com/DirtDevil, or @DirtDevil on Twitter. Hope this helps!

Loud vacuum is usually a broken fan which requires pulling motor.

Burning smell

The motor is burnt out. Good news is that most central vacuums are really easy to get into so replacing the motor shouldn't be too hard. I haven't worked on that exact machine but the fault is unmistakable.

If it sounds really high pitched or like a airplane i would bet your motor is shot in which case it would exceed cost of your unit.
