Question about Graphics Cards

My Geforce 7800GT is not detecting my Sharp HDTV through VGA.

Ok so I have a Sharp LC-26SH12U & and a EVGA GeForce 7800GT that both work perfectly fine as far as I know. I have my GFX card hooked up to my PC monitor and everything working good haven't had any issues.

The other day I was trying to use my Sharp HDTV as a PC monitor through the VGA cable so I can watch movies on it, so I hooked up my VGA cable and everything. I can see my PC boot up on the HDTV and Windows XP starts loading but after that the screen goes blank and my HDTV says there is no signal.

Having no clue to what the problem was I can see that my GFX card was not detecting my HDTV so I braught my brothers Toshiba Sattelite laptop which had Windows Vista on it and my HDTV worked on it completely fine with it.

So I'm just wondering how can I get this to work with my Geforce 7800GT. I tried changing the refresh rate and still no luck. Am I missing something?

I am currently having the same issure with my GeForce 7800GTX, I have two of them so i disabled SLi and still nothing. Its fine at start-up but as soon as windows starts loading I get the "NO SIGNAL"... sounds like at the exact time as you are. We're you able to fix this problem? If so, what did you do? I'm trying to connect to an RCA HDTV with the VGA port.

You need to change the resolution on you PC down to maximum of the resolution of your HDTV. Otherwise start 800x600 and increase slowly.

You don't disable it from there. Reenable it again and do it right: you uninstall its drivers from Programs and you reboot twice; you install the new card and you connect the monitor to it; when the pc starts you go directly in the BIOS and you disable the onboard card from there; you reboot one more time and you install the drivers for the new card.

Hi drago,

You can find your drivers here:

http://www.evga.com/support/drivers/
Download the drivers you need, and install them manually in the Device Manager.

In Windows 7, goto the Device Manager (click on Start, right click on My Computer, left click on Properties, click on Device Manager) Look for your video cards, click on the + to see which ones are installed.

Once you have the new drivers installed, you may have to uninstall the integrated graphics drivers to force Window to use the new card.

Hope that helps

If you try to clean install Windows 7 RC x64 from DOS (by booting from the DVD you made), it will install alright and finds the correct driver automatically if your internet connection is available. Or, you can also download the correct x64 bit driver from nvidia to get all Win7 features.

Sounds like your getting conflicts with running two different card drivers. I've never heard of running a PCI and a PCIe card at the same time.
