Setting the mic gain an rd gain on a158edx cb radio

unless you are right next to a station that has some power, set RF gain to max. Mic gain can be set at max level to 3/4 with no problems. If you have an amplified mic, then mic gain should be set at about the 12:00 position. hope this helps

Cobra 29 ltd classic year 2004. rf gain problems.

Put SWR meter between your antenna and output, test wave length receive/transmit, might need a ground plane or center loaded stick.
Could be transceiver relay, try clicking mic fast, it should click out as fast as you key the mic.

Hi,i have a cobra 29 ltd radio .the problem is this i can hear prople great but when i key up people barely hear me even thou i have my mic gain up and dinamic up as well. also when i key up my cb makes i...

You said mic gain and dynamic as well. After market power mic? Battery in power mic good? and is it wired for that radio? Running a "mag mount" antenna? Make sure your radio "power" itself has a good ground. In some cases the chassis of the radio may have to be grounded as well. Your getting some type of feedback, whether its audio or RF related just might have to play with it a bit.

Cb has power but no squelch, can't recieve or transmit

Begin with
  • Volume knob 12 o'clock position
  • Squelch knob full counter clockwise
  • RF gain knob full clockwise
  • Pa/CB switch to CB
  • Mic plugged in
  • Check coax and antenna connections.
  • Make sure your antenna gommet/insulator is installed correctly or it will directed gound. Treat antenna shaft as it is the positive portion of circuit.
If you have another CB check the antenna system with that rig. To verify it is a radio issue. Then dig deeper Microphone, PLL chip, Audio chip etc.
