Question about Compaq tc4200 Tablet PC

Open Question

I purchased a replacement pen for my tc4200. I have not been successful at using it. It always reverts to erase mode and I have to keep it up from the screen to write. It is not smooth at all. Is this a driver issue or is the pen possibly defective? I installed the enhanced driver from wacom, but that did nothing. i purchased the laptop from ebay, and everything on it works fine. The pen is just an overglorified mouse. What suggestions do you have? I have windows 7 installed.

Hi, i've just bought a refurbished hp tc4200 and to be honest and i'm ready to sell it. i've tried looking for assistance on the web but all answers seem to be related to usb added mouse devices. i don't...

it is an uncommon problem, but I think I know whats wrong with it, there is damage to the sensor on the scratch pad or possibly even dust in the membrane. its not a case of software fix, it would need a new sensor pad. I would return it to the refurbisher if I was you.

Where is the tablet pen located?

Looking at the screen, in the screen hinge near where the HP logo is, on top, there's a round button. It's actually the top of the pen. Push it in, release, and the pen will pop out.

Replacing power jack for hp tc4200 tablet - need manual

I do jack replacements. It requieres soldering and completely dissasembling the laptop. Do not attempt unless you know what you are doing and have the proper tools and work setup. If you still want to do it yourself (at your own risk of course) you basicaly need to take the laptop apart, remove the brokem jack (de-solder) and put in the new one. Use maximum of 15Watt soldering iron. You can get all the tools you need at a local radio shack or electronics store. Good Luck.

My Wacom Bamboo Tablet Pen: only the pen was dropped. Now the eraser works but the pen tip does not. Neither do the buttons. The tablet itself does not pick up the pen tip's presence, but it works perfect...

Try replacing the pen nib. Take out the little nib with a tweezer or something along those lines and replace it with a new one. There should be a few of them when you bought the tablet. Also, try looking at the tablet properties.

How to use the toshiba pen

First, go to your control panel and find the icon for the pen. Next, calibrate the pen and set up how you want it to work. The pen is not for use in every program necessarily but with handwriting recognition activated and a charactes set entered, it will wirk. It is also good for graphics, with a bit of practice. Some units let you erase with the back of the stylus, just like a pencil eraser.

HP tablet PC tc4200 latch fixable?

In a pinch, you can pop the lid open on these by sliding a credit card between the screen and base chassis. Typically when the latch breaks on a tc4200/4400 it will need to be replaced unless it is simply jammed.

The Pen

I'm not familiar with your laptop but judging from all the pdas I've had with touch screens the pen itself is only a pen, you could basicly use a wooden stick to poke at the screen and it shouldn't make a difference to the computer.

this laptop has a touchscreen If I'm not mistaken and you should be able to use it even with your fingers.

You might have a faulty touchscreen or then you need to install a driver for the screen?
