I have an ACER Aspire 5100 BL51. When I power it up, the fan starts for about 3-5 seconds and then the PC shuts down. It won't boot at all. Just the fan then crash.

Have you made any major changes to the system recently like upgrading memory (ram) or the Hard drive? Does the fan keep running after the computer stops?

Have you tried the "RESET" button on the back side?
It's very tiny and you may use a paper clip to reset it.

My 5100 acer over heats and the curer runs on

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

Acer aspire 5100 BL51 windows 7 wireless driver

You will have to navigate this site; enter 'notebook', 'Aspire', and scroll to 5100; after that, you will have to choose 32 bit or 64 bit. That being said, Acer does not support Windows 7 yet-you can try the Vista drivers; more often than not they will work. One note-I cannot tell just from the info you supplied whether you have the Atheros or Broadcom chip-You should be able to determine that in Device Manager.

Acer aspire 5100 won't stay on when booting on battery

replace the battery. Batteries usually only last about two years and it sounds like it just cant hold any more juice. To find a battery go to google.com and type in the model of computer and push search. Sorry for the news but its an easy fix

Not booting, then shuts down?

I had the same problem. The computer is getting to hot. I opened the case and removed and cleaned the fan. It was full of lint thus keeping the fan from cooling.
