Two of these wires are for 110 volts
these colors can be of any color since Maytag does not produce them.
an ohm meter in hand will tell tou which wire is for 110 spades on the plugs end.
the other two wires are ground wires only
one connects to the center plugs prong
the other to the dryers back sheet metal panel for added grounding protection

Can you change a four prong pigtail with a three prong pigtail on a whirlpool duet dryer

Yes, you surely can!
Here's how.
When you open up the back of the machine where the electric cord attaches, you will see a row of 3 screws/bolts.
Your 4 wire cord has the black wire going to one of those screw/bolts. That is a HOT connection.
Your cord also has a red wire attached to a screw/bolt. It too is HOT.
These two hot connections are the outside two of the row of three screws/bolts.
The one in the middle is a ground wire, and is white.
The other, the fourth wire, usually blue or green, it is attached directly to the sheet metal of the dryer itself.
It too is ground..

Now, the 3 wire cord is not color coded, it is "position" coded.
The two outside wires go to the outside (in the row of 3) screw/bolts of the dryer. the middle wire is hooked to the middle ground screw.
It doesn't matter whether the outside wires go to the right screw or the left screw, but never to the middle screw.
By the same token, never hook the middle wire to an outside screw/bolt.
You will have no fourth wire going to the sheet metal.
Be blessed.

Having to replace 3 wire power cord with four wire and can't find manual and unsure how to connect propperly.

Connect the colors with the colors on the dryer wires Black with black, White to white, and red to red. The green wire gets attached to the dryer cabinet on the screw on the outside of the access hole on left normally. on the exterior of the cover. Give me a rating if I helped you. Good luck!

I need to know which wires on the new pig tail wire in the the old harniss they are different colors but they both are marked a b c d so do i match colors or do i match a b c d can you tell me or show me...

Your best bet is to go to mitchelldiy online and get the wiring diagrams. Not knowing what year your car is and what harness or computer or component your talking about and since the wiring harness may not be the correct one for your application I would be hesitant to give advice that could ruin a computer if hooked up wrong.

Trying to connect dryer cord to a neptune, old dryer had place for four connections, this one has two connections and and one off to th side with a white wire and a green wire the cord is three prong...

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.
I don't quite understand what was wired how but the wiring should be as follows:
For a 4 prong plug and matching outlet
1. Black wire on one end terminal of choice.
2. Red wire on remaining end terminal.
3. White wire only, on the center terminal
4. Green wire on the the dryer frame or chassis terminal.

For a 3 prong cord and matching outlet:
1. Black wire on one terminal end of your choice.
2. Red wire on the remaining end terminal.
3. White wire on the center terminal.

Always be certain that the wire in the breaker or fusebox match the wiring of your outlet.

Electric dryer internal short

Make sure that the dryer is disconnected from the wall outlet before doing any repairs on it. Electric dryer work on 240 volts AC and this could hurt or even kill you. loose connection on the terminal block will cause the wires to get hot. and melt the terminal block and wires and the pig tail wires. you will have to replace the terminal block and pig tail wires and make sure you use the correct bolts and make sure you tighen them. let me know if this helps.krazytech
