Generally, the AC adapters make no noise, so if it is making a buzzing sound I'd replace it. They should be available on Ebay

I have an old 80s transistor 100watt Guitar amp it is making a crackling interferance noise about every 10 minuits or so Can anybody help please Chris

Need to know if turning down the master volume when it is making the noise stops the noise. If it does, the fault is in the preamp section, if not, it is in the power amp/power supply. Suspects are the power supply electrolytic capacitors.

The fan in my all-in-one desktop keeps making a grinding noise. How can I get a replacement fan?

The grinding noise is probably from the power supply.
If you are not doing regular maintenance on your computer, the fan of the power supply may be filled with dust. With the fan operating like that, your computer is at a risk of components overheating.

The best way is to open the case and clean the fan in the power supply with some kind of compressed gas. These are available in hardware stores.

If the noice is still not going away after that, then the best ting to do is replacing the power supply.

(Note: it is also possible that there is another component that makes the noise. The best way to make sure it is the fan in the power supply, is to turn the computer on, with the case opened. )

Loud Humming Noise from P/Supply

Yes, it is time to replace it. Open the case and make sure it is a standard size before you buy another one. Just measure length, width & height. You can put a higher wattage supply in there, it just won't have to work as hard to power your computer.

Power supply making noise and burnt smell can i adapt a normal power supply for compaqs proprietary power supply

hello,
a noise may accure in power supply due to a short circuit or fan does not run properly. if you smell like burnt then you should remove the power supply from pc and open it. then check the capaciter and other element and if you find any broken capaciter then change it with it original value.

Quick Question about power supply high pitch noise

That noise should not be normal unless it was there from its new condition. That noise seems to be there when the circuit is demanding higher current from the power supply and the transformer is trying to keep up with the demand.
How many capacitors did you replace?
