Audio circuit is not getting supply voltage. Dry solder, weak capacitor could lead to this problem.

Check the audio IC no and search in Google. Check the Vcc, Vss, Vdd pins and check the voltages. Trouble shoot accordingly. Check speaker capacitors also .

I was using my remote to change channels and hit the volume control before the channel was on the screen. Now my television has no picture or sound and keeps turning itself off and on.

I would pull the power cord on the television and leave it for 5 minutes before plugging it back in. It should solve the problem. If it doesn't, pull the batteries out of the remote, and wait 5 minutes before putting them back in.

Good luck,

Paul

My t.v. turns on for 20 seconds then it just cuts the picture off but i can still hear the sound

The way to test whether or not the television needs to be repaired is to do some things to it after it has cut off the picture. Making sure you can still hear the sound but no longer see the picture turn the volume up and down. If you can hear the volume increasing and decreasing, but you cannot see the volume indicator itself on the screen then you'll know that possibly the inverter(s) is/are loose or that the inverter board needs to be replaced. If you can see the volume indicator moving back and forth across your television screen then you might have a problem with your signal source i.e. your set top box (cable box/satellite tv box), your connecting cables or the connections themselves.

Hello Blindrid,
What I would suggest you do is Press your MENU button on the tv remote, Then down to SOUND and then Turn the AUTO VOLUME to OFF. Then come out of the menu screen.
Just to check that it has all work correctly. turn you volume upto a certain number for example 25
Then turn your TV off the turn it back on. Wait until it is displaying a picture then press the volume button Once either up or down and you should see that it will go to 24 or 26 depending on what button you pressed for the volume. This will keep your volume set to whatever you had it on before you turned the tv off.

Hope this Helps Please leave a thumbs up.

Cheers

MENU SCREEN POPS UP, TV CHANGES CHANNELS, TURNS SOUND DOWN

Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.

When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.

It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.
