There is a inverter transformer on the board that may be defective that generates the high voltage that drives the lamp, you may end up having to replace the whole inverter board to get it working again.

Look for any bulging capacitors, instead of a flat top they will look "pregnant".

If you see any of those then replace them with capacitors of the same UF rating and the voltage needs to be either the same or higher.

If you dont see any bulging capacitors or burnt parts, then its got be the LCD at that point thats not staying on and the cost to replace the LCD is as much if not more then to just get another monitor.

Robbert_R_V, Have you visited YOUTUBE to search out and view some of the longer video clips of "LCD monitor disassembly" or "LCD monitor repair" or site run by "buddymc" on fixya. Do that first!!! FYI !! Also try for some additional info. Here is a hint of a similar TECHNOLOGY that you are dealing with. Have you seen the CURLIE-Q energy-efficent CFL light bulbs at the homecenter stores? They have what is called an ELECTRONIC BALLAST circuit called a CONVERTER! AC to AC. You have a ballast called an INVERTER. DC to AC 800v to 1200v to light-up your thin, straight, tubes hung on the backside of your LCD glass panel! If this info was of some help, please rate this response on fixya. Bye for now. 12fixlouie

Check signal cable

This messsage is usually displayed when the Monitor is unable to detect any input signal this can be due to the faulty cables (VGA/HDMI). I suggest you to try to connect a different cable and check if the monitor works. If not then update your video drivers.

If you can make out a faint image then the fault is a backlight problem.
The fault could be an inverter board or the CCFL lamp/s

Samsung monitor picture clicks off after 2-5 seconds...

Yes, It sounds like the backlight inverter circuit is shutting down. No inverter power, no backlight. On some monitors the inverter circuit will shot circuit the power power supply which makes the power light flash on some it just kills the backlight. You can usually check with a flashlight. Hold the flashlight pointed at the screen and see if you can see any of the icons or background picture. If you can then it is the backlight circuit or backlight tubes, usually the circuit.

My samsung NW920 turns off after 1 min

If the blue LED ist blinking the monitor does not receive a video/sync signal. If the blue LED is on continuously and the display comes on for a few seconds and then goes dark or dim the backlight inverter may well be defective. The CCFL of the backlight needs several hundred volts to function.
