If you are referring to the the main power cord the plugs in from the wall outlet in your home. Then there is only one looks like a thick black cord with three female end slits and on the opposite side three pronged electric outlet plug ( standard outlet plug ). Is your power supply not turning on?

The ones on the mains plug and the switch on the back of it. If you mean in sleep mode, that is governed by the plugs on the motherboard.

Replaced smoked RaidmaxKY-520ATX power supply. Replacement power supply does not turn on. Which wires are remote power up from mother board ?

You can actually test the power supply before connecting it to the motherboard. Take a look at the power supply pinout by CLICKING HERE. Jump pin 14 with 13, 15, 16, or 17 to turn it on. You will have to get a manual for your motherboard to see how the front panel connector is configured with your case power switch. If you have that manual you can jump the 2 connector pins for the power switch to test the p/s from the motherboard.

How to power up a compaq 243890-001 power supply without the the motherboard? Its not green to ground

Remove Power Supply
1 . Shut down your computer and unplug the power cord and all cables connected to the system.

2 . Open the computer case and disconnect all power connectors from the motherboard, drives, cards and fans.

3 . Remove the four screws that secure the power supply to the case. These screws are located on the back of the computer case, at each corner of the power supply.

Wire and Start Power Supply
1 . Switch the power supply to the "Off" (sometimes "O") setting.

2 . Insert the end of one wire from a single pole, single throw (SPST) switch into the green wire of the ATX power connector (the largest power supply connector).

3 . Insert the end of the other wire from the SPST switch into the black wire of the ATX power connector. If your power supply has two black wires, connect the SPST to the black wire directly beside the green wire.

4 . Wrap electrical tape around the ATX power connector and wires from the SPST switch to hold them in place. Make sure there is no exposed copper or silver wire from the SPST switch wires.

5 . Turn the SPST switch to the "Off" position, if not already set. Plug the power supply into the wall outlet and switch it to the "On" (sometimes "I")setting.

6 . Connect any other computer components that you wish to operate without the motherboard, such as fans, drives or cards. Turn the SPST to the "On" setting to activate the power supply.

Hope the above information will be helpful to you.
Thanks.

I think my power supply is dead. Computer unresponsive, no cooling fan, etc. Is there a way to test the output with a voltmeter? Thank you.

You can use a paper clip and jump the connection from the green wire to a black wire next to it, this will force the power supply to turn on. If the PSU turns on, the means your issue probably lies elsewhere in the system, like a bad power switch or connection.

Dell dimension 5510 it will not turn on, no

1/10th a volt? Nope.

Bypass the Power On switch. See if you have a bad switch first.

Then test the power supply. If the power supply comes on by bypassing the Power On switch, I'll bet you have a weak 12 volt voltage power rail.

1) Yellow wires are 12 Volts
2) Red wires are 5 Volts
3) Orange wires are 3.3 Volts
4) ANY Black wire is a Ground wire

They do sell power supply voltage testers, should you not wish to use a multimeter set at DC volts.
(0 - 50 Volt scale)

I prefer a multimeter.

A) ALL the light use less than 1 Watt
B) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts

C) A typical Processor uses 55 to 125 WATTS.

You have to turn the power supply on, by jumping the Soft Power On wire to any ground wire.

This is also the way to bypass the Power On switch, to see if the switch is bad.

Do you wish to proceed?

Turning on a Liteon power supply without being hooked up to compu

On the main plug there are several black wires(ground), and one green wire. Jumper any black wire to the green wire and there you go.

When i turn the power on the green power supply light goes out and doesnt turn onand the computer wont turn on

Follow these:
  1. Unplug the computer.
  2. Disconnect the power supply from the motherboard and all other accessories.
  3. Replug the power supply.
  4. Connect the green wire (PSON) of the power supply by way of a jumper wire to any black wire (ground).
  5. The power supply should turn on with its fan. If not, it is defective and should be replaced.
  6. Check the ATX12V connector of your motherboard. It is were you removed the 4-wire, 2 yellow and 2 black, connector of the power supply. Check the continuity of the yellow wires to the black ones. It should be open, otherwise it is shorted and your processor is defective and should be replaced.

150 W ATX Power Supply HP-150SS

All you have to do is connect the green wire (normally thinner than the rest of the cables) to any black wire. This can be done easily with a short piece of wire. If the power supply doesn?t immediately turn on (within 2 seconds) remove the wire, you may have connected it to the wrong wires, although most power supplies won?t allow a short to damage the unit. Once on, the power supply isn?t loaded so the voltages won?t be as stable as if they were used in a full PC, however it?ll be sufficient for most uses. It?s not a good idea to leave a power supply on in this fashion for a long period of time too."
