Whirlpool refrigirator, Fan runs but the compressor kicks in and right back out. Not cooling at all. Had a power outage today.

You've narrowed down the problem by determining that the compressor kicks in and out. Without having the proper tool to jump start the compressor, you will either have to call a local refrigerator repair service and have them test it, or purchase a compressor relay, overload, capacitor and take a chance that those got burnt out instead of the compressor.

Compressor Start Relay/Overload or Compressor is bad. A bad compressor can cause Start Relay/Overload to go bad but the only way to know is to replace the Start Relay/Overload if you still have the same prob. or it works a week or so and it happens again the Compressor is bad or if luck is on your side it will work.

Fridge not getting cold, making clicking sound - Whirlpool EDSFTG

remove the rtc overload off the compressor and shake it,if it rattles thats your culprit, also if when its running and the compressor is quite warm to the touch, its only running on the start windings and isnt actually running right and will overheat and ruin the compressor, replace the rtc its cheaper than a new compressor

Whirlpool fridge not cooling gone warm air blowing

more than likely the compressor is not starting, it has a starting device on the left side of the compressor which has a relay/overload called a relay, remove the relay and shake it , if it rattles it has gone bad. the relay/overload combination has gone bad and can be replaced with pro41 relay. if the compressor has a run capacitor just eliminate the capacitor when replacing with new relay. connection of the two wires makes no difference.

Freezer has quit working and now refrigerator not cooling like it should.

If you hear the start relay clicking after the compressor tries to start then you know that there is power to the compressor.
This tells you it is ether a bad start relay or a bad compressor.
At this point I use a meter to see if the compressor is shorted to ground.
If the compressor is not shorted then replace the start relay and give it a try.
You should hear the compressor start right away with a new start relay if that was the problem.
If the compressor is shorted to ground you will need to have the compressor replaced.
Given the history on whirlpool refrigerators in the 5 year old age range It may be good chance that a new start relay will fix your refrigerator.
If the start relay is bad you will hear it try to start the compressor and then click off.
If the relay is bad you will hear the clicking sound seconds after plugging it in and then again every minute or two as it keeps trying to start the compressor.

Compressor won't run

the over-current relay is tripping out the compressor motor to prevent excessive current through motor windings. To prove this theory, open unit, find motor wires, disconnect wires from unit, and apply 120VAC to motor using external circuit-breaker source. Run 2 minutes max. If motor continuously turns, then relay is failing. Find it by tracing wires back to source and finding a small rectangular item. If motor again quits after 2 seconds, then this motor has an internal over-current self-resetting fuse that may be doing its job of preventing an electrical overload from a dead (shorted) motor.
