Question about Canon Cameras

1 Answer

I take a few shots and get the Error message 30 on my 50D- Always need to shut it off and then back on. Since I did soe net surfing, and since the camera makes a clear noise whn it goes into error mode, I am thinking it is surely a shutter problem. Anyone there confirm that it is a shutter problem? Note I was using a Sigma Lens at the time, so the little boys at my local shop are saying it is "not" the camera...of course it is still in warranty. I am looking for any HELP or ADVICE! Tony C

Thanks- I appreciate the quick reply. I already turned the camera in, as the warranty was coming to a close. But it seems the main issue is the local store being "fussy" about the warranty- I was using a Sigma lens and they flatly have said to me that the problem is not the Canon camera, etc. We'll see how this goes... suspect I may have some sort of $ to pay regardless. And from what I have picked up on the Net and DPreview, this kind of error/problem seems infrequent.

Hello

The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel after dropping it. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

Hope the advise is useful.

Regards
Andrea

    Hello Tony

Well, the camera does not necessarily have to be dropped, if you use a lens, it is a frequent problem without
the needed support to carry the weight. Also, i know most of the dealers are very hesitant to deal with this kind of error, because this usually means that the whole unit must be opened to fit new barrel rings. Hence, lot of work, for something they have already sold to a customer if you understand what i am saying.

I really hope they can figure something out for the repair.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind regards
    Andrea

Treadmil t733 shows E9 error and soes not start

Dear Sir:

Hello I hope you are o.k

I wil give some tipoe with this Error code:
Error 09 - Lower PCA Memory Test Errors
Description
Error 09 checks lower PCA memory locations during the power up test sequence. If a fault is
found during the power up test sequence, error 09 will be displayed. This error code is only used
on products utilizing the dual microprocessor system.
Possible Causes
1. This error message almost always indicates a lower PCA problem when it is consistently
displayed. Failures causing this error message to be displayed are rare.
Possible Remedies
1. If the error message is consistently displayed when the unit is powered up, the lower PCA
should be replaced. It is possible to see this error message displayed intermittently due to
external causes. If the units A.C. input significantly dips during the power up test sequence
the test could fail resulting in this message being displayed. Treadmills operating on
non-dedicated A.C. circuits may see this message displayed on an intermittent basis.

Thank you in advance, sincerely. Blessing.

System shuts down after surfing the internet

Regarding the error code, all you need to do is update your driver. You can do this by downloading the most up to date driver from motorola here.

Unfortunately, it seems like this might be two seperate issues.

Sometimes machines, especially laptops but it will happen to desktops as well, will shutdown when they are overheated in an attempt to prevent damage to the physical hardware. Judging by the "after about 15 minutes" comment, I think this might have something to do with it as that 15 minute window would give a non-functioning fan or unventilated laptop enough time to overheat your machine.

If the driver update does not stop the random rebooting and you do not think the machine is hot when it reboots, do this:

right-click My Computer and choose Properties; click the Advanced tab. In Vista, click the Start button, type System, Properties, Advanced, and press Enter. Click Continue if prompted by User Account Control.

In all versions, click the Settings button under 'Startup and Recovery'. Uncheck the Automatically restart box, and click OK twice. The next time the problem occurs, instead of rebooting you will likely see a text screen reporting a system error. Report back with what error it gives you.

Good luck!

Error that wont go away

Please be careful when running any sort of tools on the registry. Since almost everything in windows has a registry entry you MUST be very carefull when doing anything to the registry. IMPORTENT : Back-up the registry BEFORE doing anything to it. The problems you are having right now COULD be because of changes made to the registry. It is hard to know because you didn't post EXACTLY what the error messages were. I can only guess what happened: 1) Possibly references to .net driver paths where re-written or deleted, A re-install of windows .net should fix this problem. 2) The path to your outlook inbox files could have been rewritten and/or possibly deleted. If you cannot find the path to these files (if they are still there) and enter that path in to the registry, then you have probably lost your local copy of your saved email. In that case there is no fix. My recommendations: 1) Always back-up, back-up, and back-up some more (you never know when something will go wrong) 2) Always take note of the exact error messages the computer gives you. It is THE only solution to any problem. Also to save you panicking, most of the registry entries regcure reports on (as with ALL registry repair tools) are NOT a problem. MOST of these entries are MRU entries (recent files applications remember), missing shortcuts, directory's and the like, nothing of which will harm your computer. You really only need to run a registry cleaner once every few months.
