I purchased a serial port that is not compatable with my sewing machine, I also purchased an updated software with Bernina to make my embroidery machine user friendly. however,I am unable to connect

Problem is that the Bernina software you are using expects to talk to a 'COM port and the PC's USB serial interface doesn't automatically default to a COM port. Make sure you have installed the software that was delivered with your USB-to-Serial adapter and look on your PC's 'Device Manager' under 'Ports' - you should see the USB adapter listed and it should be assigned to a COM Port number. You need to check what COM port numbers are accepted by the Bernina embroidery software (sorry, I cant remember and haven't got one here presently) - it should be in the Options menu. You have to ensure that the USB 'virtual COM port' is the same as that which is set in the Bernina software. If the Bernina software doesn't support the COM port allocated to the USB interface, go to 'Properties, Port settings, Advanced, COM port number and set this to the same as the COM port number in the Bernina software - hopefully this should set up the link OK, provided you haven't got a COM port clash - to avoid this, it's usually best to choose a COM port number of 2 or above.

My Bernina Artista 180E no longer works with updated Windows. Is it possible to upgrade so that I can still use my 180E and not have to buy another machine?

Just use the free download software from Bernina called Artlink. I used it along with a USB to Serial converter cable to connect to the machine. Works wonderfully. Allows me to still use my old Artista designer software if I want to on an older machine and then when I want to actually transfer the designs I use the laptop with the USB cable.

Looking for an internet site that offers a patch for Kenmore (Janome)R/W 19000 embroidery software for Windows XP. The orig software is only compatible with Windows 95 and MS Word. Thanks so much.

I was informed there was no patch. The software was formated for windows 95 and will only work with that software. you can pick up a computer for less than 100 with that old windows system-- that is what I did.

Cant get reader writer to work on xp servpk 3

Your Husqvarna Software and Hardware sound like they might be as much as 10 years old or so. There is nothing available to make your parallel port reader/writer work with a USB port. There is a new reader / writer that is available that uses a USB port but may not work with your older software so consulting you local dealer would be wise.If her software is called, "customizing" you'll need new software too. If your wife loves her #1+ it will cost less to just upgrade with new software and a reader / writer than replace her whole system.

Computer says no contact with machine have tried everything

Youn don't say what Windows flavor you're using, or whether you have a serial port or not. I'm going to guess you have a laptop with Vista on it, and the laptop has no serial port for you to connect the 7570's cable.
You need to get either a serial to USB cable that works with the 7570 (read some of the posts in this section. There's at least two or three that do), or another device called a Port Replicator, that has the serial port as well as a parallel port for printing, and perhaps one or two USB ports.
In my case, I have two of the latter ones, the Targus PA090U and the PA075U, and both need no drivers with Vista and work OK. They simply get recognized when you plug them into a USB port and are available to you, except that in my case, the serial port always defaults to COM port 4.
The other reason why you may not be getting a connection may be found in your Machine Configuration, in PCD_WIN. In version 2.0, which is the one I have, go to the Machine menu option, and at the bottom, click on Configuration.
Here make sure the COM port is the correct number, and then set the speed to LOW. That works for me.
Good luck!
