Question about IBM ThinkPad X31 2672 Notebook

1 Answer

Bought a 'refurbished' x31 a while back, loaded up with BIOS thingy but nothing else. Got someone to install wondows on it, yesterday I got it back, started it up, worked ok for a few hours until I started installing things. Now I get the various blue screen errors. And when I hit the on button, it starts huffing and puffing but nothing happens on screen. Just blank :( More annoying though, occasionally it works. Also... 2 x 512mb ram is what I'm using. But I'm more bothered about the display :/ Any ideas? I'm trying to avoid buying

Did you install Windows 7 or is it XP, which is a discontinued operating system?

Blue screens are less prevalent and even nonexistent on Windows 7 vs. Windows XP.

When Installing PCI multi I/O card monitor stops working

There might be an IRQ resources conflict. You need to check BIOS. See if you can change the number there. The card may ask for a specific IRQ number. This was a common problem back in the day.

You can check resources in Windows by typing MSInfo32 in run. For instance my COM1 IRQ is 4. I think you have to assign COM2 to IRQ 3.

It's been a while, but I recall having to do this.

FYI - Safe Mode loads minimal drivers. That's why it's safe and no new hardware is found.

PowerStar. Model 45-557701 tankless water heater water wont get hot...it slowly quit getting the water hot

Hot Water Hot to Cold And back. I had that problem for 2 years. I had a very large shower head from the time I installed the tank-less hot water heater and the water temp would change from one extreme to another. Over time my shower head had stopped working as well as it did so I bought a smaller shower head and installed it and amazingly my water temperature quit changing temperature. I now turn my water to what temp I want and it stays there. It's been working correctly for 6 months now ... until yesterday and it quit working completely which is the reason I'm on here. lol

Change the boot order in the BIOS to CDROM 1st. If that doesn't work then the BIOS of that version doesn't support booting to a USB Device

Western digital 500 gig hd eide disc error????

Take it back to the store - this is a common problem with WD drives and WD are doing nothing to address this issue with their larger drives. Buy another make and you should be trouble free.
