Won?t scan tells me ?Trying to open Scanner session? ... then nothing happens. I?d love to know if it?s possible that a light may have finished? can?t find anything about this in the manual. Thanks ...

I just installed the software yesterday so I noticed the same thing except that just after installing it a window popped up giving some default settings I changed my preferred format to "JPEG" and then selected an already existing folder for the images to go to as could not create a folder using the window ... so your image files are probably ending up in a default folder ... the manual is available for download from Plustek ... it is zipped by RAR ... so you will have to download a program from to open it. I have not done this yet ... stumbled on your posting while looking for the same thing so I think the solution to both our problems is in the manual ... good luck

Ensure the software for the printer and the drivers are installed correctly first.

One or more of the hints below will probably sort out most USB problems with most USB portable / external hard drives and OTHER devices (though not always)

A few things to check but assumes USB and Windows for other interfaces / operating systems (mac/ Linux) similar steps may be adapted to suit.

1. Ensure it is connected directly to the computer to a USB 2.0 port not a USB 1.0 port as this can have effects on performance and reliability

2. Use only the cables that came with it NOT one that fits that may have been lying around or is longer. Not all USB cables are equal even though they should be)

3. Do not connect through an external USB HUB unless that hub is USB 2.0 AND has its own power supply.

4. Use ONLY the power supply that came with it if it has an external power supply Don’t use any other unless you know it has both the same voltage and current rating e.g. 12V 500mA anything rated below that would not work properly.

5. Always use the same port for connecting your devices. Some devices do not like being switched about. If switched they may want to install software / drivers again. This can be especially true if you move a HUB to another port
6. For FLASH DRIVES you should ensure that the device is set for "quick removal" using the drive control panel properties or use the USB "Safely Remove Hardware" option. If you dont do this there is a very strong chance that any files you transfer may not be there when you plug into another computer.

If you checked and fixed anything there and still have issues then check your hardware from CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM / HARDWARE.
Any exclamation marks by hardware need fixing before you investigate any further

USB flash drives can fail for no apparent reason.
Sandisk Cruzers are especially bad for this.

USB hard drives should be treated with extreme care.
This is a real hard drive ! and knocks and bumps can quite literally kill them.

It is possible to remove drives from the enclosures in most cases and connect directly inside a PC to fully check it.
You should also do this to cheack the drives connections are not bad inside the enclosure

Note that if you hear a drive clicking or pinging this could be the worst thing you would hear.

If none of the above steps help look at updating the drivers from the manufacturers web site in the support section.

1st you uninstall the printer driver and restart the system then re install the driver software for printer.

Won't scan, light doesn't come on

Make sure the printer can copy (without computer). If you can make copies, the problem may be the computer or the USB cable. If the printer does not copy also. The problem is in the scanner or in the flat cable.

Your engine's computer has detected a problem with it's engine management controls. The work you had done should have nothing to do with it.
Until you have the computer scanned (with an OBD2 scanner-Autozone will do it for free), you won't know what the check engine light is for. The scan will provide trouble codes for a technician to fix the problem. If it's a simple problem, you may be able to do it yourself. But only the code or codes will tell you why the light is on.

Canon Pixma MX850 won't scan - says 'set the pc to start scan'

Do you have more than one PC connected to the scanner? I have both a PC and a Mac connected to it, and I think my scanner is trying to connect to the Mac, which requires image capture software to be installed, rather than the PC. Don't know how to tell it to go to the PC, though...

Scanning start problem

You need to have the scanning software running first, I use Picaso that comes with some windows.. You open the scan software and tell it what you are scanning and if it sees the scanner you can scan from the computer. If the software doesn't open when you press the scan button you may not have compatible software on your computer.

It starts, runs and then just goes dead. It's un predictible except it happens once or twice a day.

You have several possibilities here....
If the issue is fuel: Fuel filter
If the issue is spark: HV coil has a hairline crack that gets larger with heat. When cool, internal connections are fine, when hot, internal connections open.
Otherwise: Computer chip that control engine timing and other functions has a hairline crack that opens with engine heat.

Corrective action is to have an ODB scanner check your cars "fault memory" to see what failures are being registered. I suspect that AutoZone would do the scan and tell you the faulty part for nothing - and Immediately.

It's not scanning anymore!!

If your PC acknowledges your scanner and the scanner does not try to start (no sound or noise) you have a component failure. Without seeing it or knowing more details I cannot offer any more possibilities.

How to Network the scan function of a Gestetner DSm635

The only real problem would be finding the software driver for your machine.When your driver for your scan function is loaded it will assign an IP address for the scanner.without the software,your out of luck.I'll look online tonight for it and let you know if I find it.

Won't scan at all

With all of you having the same problem, it doesn't sound too good. Just to cover all bases (have to do that in troubleshooting) do you have compatible software installed for the scanner to work with? The scanner needs a program that will recognize it. What program is this? it may help me to help you if I know it. Can you try opening that program and telling it to scan from there, rather than from the scanner?
