How off narrator on HP laptop

In the bottom left hand of the screen, next to the round windows icon, in the empty search box, (assuming that you have Windows 7) type in narrator. You should then see a menu or result for narrator where you will find the option to turn narrator off.

I want the narrator turned off

Windows Narrator is a tool that reads the text on your screen.
It can be helpful to use for many users, but if you are not utilizing it, you can easily turn it off. Windows Narrator can read text and describe events such as error messages that appear while you are using your computer.
Turning off the screen reader is a quick and simple process that does not interfere with system components.

Click the "Start" button, and then type "Narrator" (without quotes) in the "Search" box. Click "Narrator" in the search result list to launch Windows Narrator.
Click the "Control whether Narrator starts when I log on" option.
Uncheck the checkboxes next to "Turn on Narrator" and "Turn on Audio Description."

Click "Apply" to save your changes.
Windows Narrator is turned off.

Microsoft Narrator

Hi berbob,

There are a lot of keyboard commands to help you, the first being [Crtl] + [Shift] + [Spacebar] to read an entire window after clicking it. If you are in the main Narrator console, press the [F1] key for help. If you expand the Narrator topic, "Navigating with the keyboard and Narrator" should be displayed as a subtopic. This contains the keyboard shortcuts to help you navigate Windows.

If getting to Narrator is difficult for you, press [Ctrl] + [Esc] (equivalent to clicking on the Start menu), press [R] (for the "Run" command) and then type the word narrator, followed by the [Enter] key.

Hope this helps,
Jason,

How can i get the text to be read out loud?

First you have to specify, which program you are using ! Adobe Acrobat, MS Word or any other program ?

  • Adobe acrobat: On your Menu, select or click "view" and select the "read-out-loud" option from the menu, then, in the next pull-down menu that appears, select your optioon to read the whole document, or only the page.
  • General WindowsGo to start, click on run, then type in narrator. Make configurations that you need in the little narrator window. This program should read most Windows appliances. To configure your narrator, navigate to your control panels to the "Speech" control panel. Open it and configure the speed and the output audio device.
  • If you use WinWord, you can easy copy-paste your text into notepad to read the text-out-loud
Kind Regards,
Stef
