on the back of the timer is a black plastic tab, you have to pull out on this tab in order to remove the knob. in other words you have to take apart the control panel to get to the timer just to take off the knob. :I

The agitator is supposed to turn freely one way then catch the other. in the top of the agitator there is three teeth that retract when you go counter clockwise and then when they go clockwise they come back out to bite on the inside of the agitator and then spin it. Those teeth are called DOGS. It is only when you can spin it freely both ways that you have a problem. There is nothing wrong with it. Congrats.

There's a endless volume knob who has contacts to inform if the volume increase or decrease.
It's normally produce noise and the circuit understand it like a data.
You can put a 1uF/50V capacitor in the each of 2 soldering points of the volume control to the ground (there has 3 points. One is ground and the others are live).
