Try this:

Go to Start, Control Panel, Mouse (or Printers and Other Hardware if you're in category view where everything is lumped together, then click Mouse). Just click Default and OK. This should restore your settings.

My compaq d530 cmt....i cannot get on the internet and cant find the right driver for and dont know which driver to install......help

You didn't state what Operating System you're using. I'm going to assume WinXP Home.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=316722&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=316720&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=1098#11395

Go down to the heading Driver-Network.

Now Minimize the window. (At the top right of the screen. Starting from left to right; Minimize window icon, Maximize window icon, Close window icon. {Red square, white X)

On your desktop screen right-click on My Computer.
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.

Left-click on the Hardware tab.
Left-click on Device Manager.

When Device Manager fully loads, left-click on the + sign next to Network adapters.

Now match up the name of the device, with the correct network driver file listed in the HP Support link.

Is it a Broadcom device listed?
Is it the newer version? Broadcom NeXtreme? (Doubt it)

If it isn't Broadcom NetXtreme the two first files listed do not apply.

Go on down. Is it an Intel device?
Just indicates Intel in the name of the device?
Intel Gigabit Network Connection Drivers for Microsoft Windows XP.

Or does it have Intel PRO/1000 in the name of the device?
Intel PRO/1000 GT Drivers for all operating systems.

Not Intel?
Just lists as a Broadcom device?

Skip the next 6 files.
They deal with wireless networking, and Bluetooth.

You want - Broadcom Driver for Windows XP

After you left-click directly on the file name you want, it takes you to another page.
Go to the right of the heading - File name: and sp26992.exe (31MB), and left-click on Download.

A small window comes up.
Opening sp26992.exe
Left-click on - Save File

In the next window that comes up write down what is in the heading.
In the heading tells you where the file will download to.
It may have Desktop, or My Documents, or Downloads in the heading.

Desktop: The file will be on your desktop screen.
My Documents: Left-click on Start, then My Documents.
Downloads: Left-click on Start, then My Documents, then double-click on Downloads.

When you see the file Double-click on it.
Follow the Installation Wizard instructions.
(Essentially just click on Next, Next, and Finish. Windows will put the file in the proper place)

Now restart your computer.

Someone turned the sound off on my dell and I don't know how to turn it back on

You have two ways to unmute your speakers.
1. In the right side of your desktop near clock you have an icon like a speaker, right click on it and left click on open volume control. Then go to first box in the left side and uncheck mute, after that your speakers should work normally.
2. Go to start/control panel and double click on sound and devices, it appear a window. In that window uncheck mute from volume tab. That's all.

My gadgets has stopped working in windows7 how can i fix this problem ???

For windows 7 to get gadgets back on the desktop you need to minimize all running programs and make sure you see your desktop. do a right click with your mouse on any empty space on the desktop and then in the menu that comes up do a left click on Gadgets and it will open up a window with all the options you can put on your desktop. to have it display on the desktop just double left click any of them and they will show on there. If you dont like some you put up you can just hover with mouse over it and it will give you an X to close it or little wrench which allows to customize the widget it self. Another way to get the gadgets on you desktop is to go to control panel under you start button and then if you are in category view which is if you have only few icons so to get to gadgets in upper right corner there is option that says VIEW BY: and here is where you choose large or small icons and you will see many more icons appear and one of them is gadgets icon. double click it and it goes to same screen as explained in beginning of solution. Hope this helps.

The appearance of my icons changed, they now have a small blue square with two right arrow symbyls in the square.

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Windows XP
Change Default Icons in Windows XP
  1. Step 1 Start Windows in your normal fashion.
  2. Step 2 Click the Start menu and select the "My Computer" option. Alternately, you can double-click the "My Computer" desktop icon if you've enabled it to appear on the desktop.
  3. Step 3 Double-click on your hard drive to open the directory.
  4. Step 4 Find the program for which you wish to change the associated icon. You'll need to know its location on the hard drive. If you don't know where it is, you can use the Start menu "Search" feature to locate it.
  5. Step 5 Right-click on the file, and click the "Properties" menu option. This will open the Properties menu for the file.
  6. Step 6 Click the "Change Icon" button. If there is no "Change Icon" button, you will need to create a desktop icon instead. To do so, cancel out of the Properties menu and right-click the file again. This time, select "Send to -> Desktop (create shortcut)."
  7. Step 7 Click on one of the icons that appears in the list. If the icon you want isn't on the list, click the "Browse" button to search for more icons.
  8. Step 8 Click "OK" once you've chosen the icon you'd like to use.
  9. Step 9 Click "Apply" to confirm your changes, and then click "OK" to close the window.
  10. Step 10 Wait a moment to see the icon change. There are times, like when a lot of system resources are in use, when icon changes can take a moment to appear.

I want to download pictures from a disk to my computer. Please help

If you have the pictures on a disc, USB drive, floppy disk, or any other source, you can follow these steps to save them on your computer:
Double-click the "My Computer" icon on your desktop. You should now see a list of drives. Some of them will be your Hard Drives (Like the "C" Drive), and below them you should have all your "Devices with Removal Storage" drives.
Under Devices with Removable Storage, search for your CD drive. It should have an icon of a disc, and possibly a meaningful name saying what's on the disc itself (Depending on how it was burned). Double-click that icon, and you should be able to see the list of files and directories on that disc.
Navigate through the directories until you find the picture you want to copy.
Using your mouse, right-click the file (or directory) you would like to copy. A context menu should open up next to the file.
Left-click the word "Copy".
Close the My Computer window, and return to the desktop.
Double-click the "My Documents" icon on your desktop.
At the top-left corner of the screen, search for a menu called "Edit". Click it, and select "Paste".
That's it, your files should now be copied to your computer.

I deleted the recycle icon by accident i would like to get it back please?

Assuming you didn’t turn off all your desktop icons (right-click your desktop, choose View from the menu, and choose Show Desktop Icons if it doesn’t have a check next to it, which will turn them back on), it’s easy to get back, so stop your sweating and follow these simple steps.
  1. Right-click on your desktop and choose Personalize
    delrb1.jpg
  2. Click on the Change Desktop Icons link in the upper left hand corner
    delrb2.jpg
  3. In the Desktop Icons Settings window, check the Recycle Bin box and click OK
    delrb7.jpg
WORKAROUND in case the above does not work loadTOCNode(1, 'workaround'); If you cannot restore the Recycle Bin by using the resolutions that are listed in this article, work around this issue by creating a shortcut to the Recycle Bin: 1. Click Start, and then click My Computer. 2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options. 3. Click the View tab, and then click to clear the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) check box. 4. Click Yes when the warning message appears, and then click OK to close the Folder Options dialog box. 5. Click Folders on the toolbar.

Note If Folders is not visible on the toolbar, point to Toolbars on the View menu, and then click Standard Buttons. 6. In the left pane, under Folders, locate the Recycle Bin folder, and then drag the Recycle Bin folder to the desktop. 7. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options. 8. Click the View tab, and then click to select the Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) check box. Click OK.Note This procedure does not re-create the original icon. However, this procedure restores most of the features of the Recycle Bin, including the following: • Delete a file by dragging it to the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop. • Retrieve a file that you deleted by double-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, right-clicking the file that you want to retrieve, and then clicking Restore. • Empty the Recycle Bin by right-clicking the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop, and then clicking Empty Recycle Bin. When you use these step to work around the problem, you cannot right-click the Recycle Bin shortcut to access the Recycle Bin Properties. To set properties for the Recycle Bin, follow these steps: 1. Double-click the Recycle Bin shortcut on the Desktop. The Recycle Bin folder opens. 2. In the upper left corner of the Recycle Bin folder, right-click the Recycle Bin icon, and then click Properties.
