Question about Brother CS-80

Auto threader cassette don't work any longer, How can i manually thread the machine to use it without the cassette?

The Brother CS80 autothread cassette no longer works after maybe 20 hrs of sewing time. There is a wire sticking up with a loop on it the the right of the cassette. Is there a way to thread this machine manually to use it? I love all the stitches it makes, Not sure what the warranty is on one. We have had this one 18 months, so it is probably out of warranty. I took it to a shop and they wanted $99 to even look at it. We only gave $160. for it. Do you know how to use it without the auto threader and/or where to find a repair manual that shows how it should look inside where this wire with a loop on it is sticking up.Thanks. If you would like you can e-mail me at pcollins@advhomecare.org.

Have you tried using the 'Extra Spool Pin' that came with the sewing machine? It is normally used for spools that don't fit in the cassette. When using the extra pin, make sure there is no needle in the machine when feeding the thread through the machine. Then install the needle and thread the needle manually. Check out the manual on page 24.

Hope it helps.

I do know that you can purchase new cassettes on ebay for about $15.00. I understand that they can fail after a while. A service call may not be necessary. You may be able to purchase one from a dealer as well.

How do you get the auto threading and wind in place to work on Singer XL6000 sewing machine

There are several FB and Yahoo groups dedicated to the Quantum XL-1000, XL-5000 and XL-6000 who can help you. It may be that your problem with the autothreading is the autothreader is out of adjustment, but I'm at a loss as to the bobbin winder problem.

Difficult to use auto needle threading

you thread the machine the normal way, using every thread guide, and if the automatic theader works it will thread the needle,
if the auto threader doesn't work, then it needs to be checked.
also make sure the needle is turned the correct way and inserted correctly into the needle holder.

The needle threader on my embroidery machine is no longer working.

There's a possibility of it being related. I would need more information though.

Auto threader wont come all the way down...makes a poping noise

Personally, I wouldn't bother to fix it. Take a sharp pair of scissors and trim the end of the top thread at an angle and poke it through the eye of the needle. Autothreaders are usually the first thing to break.

AUTO THREADER CAME OUT

When you activated the threader, the needle was down and the threader came off or broke.

If it is not broken, you may be able to push it back into place.

Turn off the power and tip the machine back on some towels so it does not slip and with a flash light check the area where it fits and see if you can get it back into position.

If not, will have to thread the needle the old fashion way.

Check with your Brother dealer to see if they can look at the machine while you wait.

They may be able to get it back together or they will have to replace the threader.

It is possible they will have one in stock, or they may have to order it.

Broken needle threader?

Hi - welcome to FixYa. I have this machine, and unfortunately, the cassettes can break. If the threader worked when you first got your machine, I would suggest buying a new cassette (even if your threader is working). A second cassette is very handy because you can thread your next color in the extra cassette before the machine stops for the next color change - when the machine does stop, just put in the second cassette, and thread the other with the next color - speeds things up alot. And, if one of the cassettes does break, you aren't sitting in a puddle waiting for a new one.. You can find the thread cassettes for sale on a variety of sites - this is where I buy mine:

Some of the 270Ds came with a spool pin - look in your manual for a picture and for the instructions for installing and using the spool pin. You can use it for spool of thread that are too large for the cassette and I think you can leave it installed on your machine all the time. If you don't have your manual, leave a comment and I'll look mine and check the instructions.

Hope this helps. If you have a minute, a rating (good or bad) tells me if the information or solution I provide is helpful to anyone who visits FixYa.

If you would like me to write a tip on salvaging an embroidery project that has been pulled into a birdsnest, leave a quick comment and I'll add the tip. Thanks everybody, and good luck. Please feel free to comment if you need more help or have more questions.

Auto threader

The parts for any autothreader are necessarily delcate considering the nature of its task. Check (without thread) to make sure the tongue that passes through the eye of the needle isn't bent a tiny bit causing it to strike next to the ****. Have seen this more than once.

Brother SE 270D Cassette threader

I too have a christmas gift causing headaches - loopy embroidery. But at least this one I found a work around for... I thread the cassette according to the arrows but when I get to "6" I loop up around the left side and over the top of the bend but DON'T go far enough to cut the thread. I leave about 4 or 5 inches loose and hold the end at the top-right of the thread cassette at about the 2 o'clock position. I push the cassette down into the machine normally and right about when the 6 is below the window the thread will cut leaving you holding the left over piece. Continue pushing down until click and needle will thread. Have not had any threading problems since learning to leave a tail on the thread. Hope this helps.
