Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a GE Profile WPRE6100G washing machine. It will not agitate or spin. I have attempted to reset the machine...no luck yet. The LED indicator light on the system board flashes normally.

OK, I finally got the machine to reset the system board to flash codes for me. It flashes 6 times (locked rotor error) but nothing is stuck. The basket rotates freely by hand as does the pulley, motor shaft, etc. I put the washer into field service mode and it has the same issue (no go) when cycling through the agitate and spin test modes. So now I'm thinking motor/inverter replacement. If it were simply a fuse, would the system board light up at all?

There is a fuse under the top cabinet running down to the motor. It is small it looks like a shrink wrap around a white wire I think. When It goes bad this is one symptom. The next thing could be your lid switch. I would check your lid switch first. GE's are tricky.

Wash machine will fill but not agitate or spin

Check the lid switch. GE will not go beyond fill with the lid pen and if the switch fails the machine thinks the lid is up. Eric

GE profile washing machine won't agitate it spins out, drains,

Pull the agitator out and check the drive collar splines. If you have the model I think you have just pull straight up on the agitator. Once removed you will see the drive collar with a 7/16 head bolt, remove it and pull off the collar.First before pulling it off spin it if splines are stripped it will spin freely.
