Hello,

Is it possible that the service tech left your controller in service mode for a particular reason? Start there, there may have been something forgotten during the visit. I suspect that you are under a service agreement for your pool, and the contractor has exclusive at the moment.

I have a 13X42 inch Metal Frame Pool and we have added over 55 lbs of salt to our pool and its still green and saying low salt.... what should we do and how much salt does out pool actually need??

You need to get water tested then add the right amount of shock + others and check in a few days to see where the water is at. The salt system only keeps pool right when in balance.

You don't mention the size of the pool. If this is a above ground small pool ... dump the water, clean the liner and refill it. Remove the metal with a sequestering agent. Get the alkalinity correct. Get the pH correct then add the salt to 3200 ppm.

Chlorine kills algae. Are you sure it is algae and not metal in the water?

pH should be 7.2 to 7.6. Alkalinity should be 100. If a gunnite pool, the calcium should be 300. Salt should be 3200. Cyanuratic acid should be 50+ if this pool is outside (not indoors).

What to do. If this is a big pool, and you are sure this is not metal in the water, I would super chlorinate the pool - take it to 20 or so ppm. Run the filter for at least 24 hours. Watch the pressure ... you will be filtering out a lot of stuff.

Let me know what happens ...

Hello,
First of all green water can arrise from a lot of different situation.
Low chlorine is one of them coupled with the crappy filter that comes with the intex pools it does not filter enough.

Start with getting your salt level to 3000ppm
any lower than 2700 and you will not generate enough chlorine and any higher than 3500 and you could go cloudy or trigger high salt alarms

you need to get the salt test kit that reads in #'s not color the color ones has to much of a variance
once your salt is at 3000 clean your cell then filter filter filter

I run my filter 24/7 if it is not generating chlorine I am filtering.

Clean your cartridge every few days
I have had the same 2 cartridges for this being my 4th season and have never been green or replaced the filters.
Also I reccomend a non foaming algecide

Just follow directions on bottle

Service light is not fixable by the consumer
you will need to call intex
they will e-mail you a form fill it out and fax it back to them
you will have a new pump in a few days to your door
it must be under 2 years old and you must have a valid receipt

you really should get test strips for salt. Get the kind that reads #'s
Get your pool to as close to 3000ppm as you can. any lower than 27000 and you do not generate enough chlorine any higher than 3600 will taste bad and could trigger high salt alarm 3000 is best

run filter only for a few hours before running generator the salt needs enough time to fully distribute through the pool
