SOURCE: LG Flatron LCD Power Saving Mode

Well thats seems tricky does it not come on at all when you boot the computer. If the screen is working then it should work to display the Start up screen. If it does then keep pressing Delete until the BIOS comes up- then search the pages for power saving and slect to OFF

SOURCE: digital power saving mode

check your monitor power settings.

right click on your desk top then left click on 'properties' in the white box that appears.

this will bring up a 'display properties' box which should have a tab headed 'screen saver' amongst others.

select the screen saver tab.

in this tab there are 2 sections. one to select which screen saver you want to use (and what settings are applied to it), and another section which should be called 'monitor power'.

click the button here which says 'power...' to adjust your power settings.

in the next window there are 4 tabs. select the first tab (power schemes - which should be already selected by default) and you now have 4 options. leave the selected 'power scheme' in the top of the window as it is and just alter the settings for the selected power scheme.

your 4 options are: 'turn off monitor', 'turn off hard disks', 'system standby' and 'system hibernates'  i would recommend setting all of these to 'never', and don't forget to click the 'apply' button after you've done this.

i would also recommend disableing hibernation in the 'hibernate' tab (this is in the same window as the power schemes tab).

once you've adjusted your power settings, don't forget to activate one of your screen savers.  this is only important if you leave the monitor on for a long time with no changes taking place in terms of what is being displayed. if you leave a static image on for hours you will end up with permanent screen burn. (a ghost image that is always there - even when the monitor isn't switched on!).

i don't bother with screen savers personally as i find them annoying, and find it much easier to simply turn the monitor off whenever i'm not going to be using it for the next hour or more.

hope that solved your problem. apologies if it doesn't.

by the way, the tabs etc i described are what i have on my OS (windows XP pro) and may be named differently if you're using a different version of windows.  the 'power options' settings will still be accessible via 'screen saver' tab in desktop properties though.

good luck!

:o)

SOURCE: Power saving mode

Prevent the laptop/desktop monitor from going to power saving mode:

  • Click on Start | Control Panel | Power Options.
  • In the Power Option properties window, click on the Power Schemes Tab
  • Set the Turn off Monitor/ Turn off Hard Disks option when on Power (and also Battery for laptop users) to Never.
  • Now click on the Save as... button and assign a name to this power scheme... Let us call it 'Presentation' and then click on OK.
  • That's it congrats!

I have a flatron w1946 monitor and it seems to be stuck in 'power saving mode' the screen says this then goes black. How do i get it to work normally?

You should have an alternative VGA entry corresponding to your graphics card. Connect the VGA cable, to that one ;)

I have a flatron w2253tq and have "analoge power saving "on. I cannot see the desktop

Is the monitor connected to the computer using a VGA plug (a smaller one, with 15 pins in 3 rows), or a DVI plug (wider one, with flat pins in 2 rows)?

From what you write, your monitor is switched to the analog input (VGA). It doesn't sense any signal on that input and hence goes to power down mode.

You need to go to your monitor's on-screen menu and select the digital input - you should see the picture then.

    Analog power saving mode

If its going to analog power saving mode, that is what its supposed to do when it does not get a recognizable connection from a computer vga port. I would suggest coming back on with some more information about your computer and suggest testing another screen on your pc.

    Analog power save mode

Are you connect via Analog (Blue VGA connection) or DVI (White Digital connection?

If you are connected via DVI, then you have to change the input select button to DVI

If you are Connected VGA, make sure the system doesn't have 2 VGA ports. If it does, connect to the other port.

    LG Flatron power save mode

I bet you plugged into the VGA output on your motherboard instead of your video card. I accidentally did this once myself. Look on back of the machine and see if there is more than one possible place to plug the monitor into.

If that's not it let us know and well try to find another fix.
