1. Unplug the microwave or turn off its breaker.

2. Open the door, then detach the control panel as shown in the video at
http://www.microwavedisplay.com and swing it down, but without disconnecting the wires.

If you have any trouble getting the grille off once the screws are removed, slide the hood vent grille to the left about 1/4", then then pull it forward.

On some models there are L-shaped clips that fit into a slot to hold bottom of the vent.

I have a JVM2070 spacemaker GE over oven microwave. The touch pad stopped working. So I took apart the control module and cleaned all the ribbon cable contacts with pencil eraser, and it started working fine. Note that the fan, lights and vent was always okay, only the touch pad would not recognize input, although the display showed data.

To get to the control module, follow instructions above, basically 2 screws at the top of microwave to get the vent assembly off. The bottom of the vent uses L shaped hooks so slide it to the left and out.
Make sure you cut power off first.
Then 1 screw at the top of the control module gets it off, then basically disconnect all cables including 2 circuit boards and clean all contacts. Dont just do the main control board do the one under neath it also, but you dont have to take off the metal shields to get to the actual lcd pad.

Model # jvm1340aw003 I think it has blown a fuse? Where do I find the appliance fuse in the microwave? My email address: claffertysr@sbcglobal.net Thank you in advance for your help, Mike

If the microwave control panel doesn't light up, then your fuse is blown. unplug the microwave. unscrew the vent grill, (2) screws at the top of the microwave. then you should see 1 screw holding the control panel. after removing that screw, gently push up then out. there should be a metal plate on top of the control panel. remove that plate and the fuse will be in that opening. remove the fuse and check for continuity across the fuse. Replace fuse and plug microwave back in. control panel should light up.

Have a ge profile spacemaker microwave model# PNM18715M155. The vent fan cmae on while cooking and it wwill not go off. I unplugged and waited 5 min. plugged it back in a the fan still came on.

most likely you have a bad thermal fuse/limit device located behind control panel... there is a small round approx. size of a quarter that has 2 wires attached to it. this device has most likely failed as it is a heat limit and for some reason either the unit got to hot and closed the limit to allow the fan to continue to run or the limit itself has failed... you will have to remove control panel to gain access.... www.sears.com then hit the parts direct link on top and enter your model number to find the part and price ... good luck to you...

I have a GE Profile Spacemaker PVM 2070 SMSS and the button pad needs to be replaced for the vent and lights. Can this part be purchased?

Sadly on the 2070-series models, GE does not make separate parts available for the controller.

Only the control panel subassembly is available, and these range from a few hundred to several hundred dollars, depending on your full model number.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Control panel for GE microwave

The control panel module is different from the membrane. Unfortunately these modules themselves are usually very expensive, perhaps 1/2 the cost of a new microwave.

Sorry.

My Ge SpaceMaker XL1800 Microwave Oven won't power on any more.

1.Check power outlet for working.
2.If it is than you have broken fuse inside the m/w.
3. To change the fuse you have to disconnect the power to m/w, take the upper grill off, take the screw on top of control panel, lift the control panel up and removed. The 20 Am fuse located behind this panel.

Micriowave key panel

The part number for the Control Panel assmbly is WB07X10789, you can order it from numerous places but www.repairclinc.com has it listed as a special order for 110.00. To replace it first shut for the POWER. there are usually 2 screws in the face of the grill above the door, sometimes in the top of the unit. Remove these then the grill will pull off, just above the control panel there is one screw take that out then lift up on the control and pull out on the top, control panel should come out. Be sure you keep track of the wires attached to the control and where to put them back....
Then you will need to separate the control board from the control panel . After that reverse to reassmble
