Question about Televison & Video
Without knowing the model numbers I can not state for sure, but there is a difference between playing back an SD tape and "converting" an HD signal into an SD one. Few machines will provide that conversion. Most have teh capability of playing/recording an SD tape. Can you please update this with the model numbers?

Hi. if it is set to 480i SD output, and HD output works, in theory there should be no problem in playing SD.
Try resetting the unit by usual disconnecting power ten minute. Do the same with TV. Test a different connection (eg.compnent cables). If the unit does not send SD output the only thing I can think is a possible firmware problem. I suggest calling manufacturer and asking for a firmware/software update for the unit.
