Question about Vacuums

Open Question

I just got a coralife SPL-165R-JS replacement ballast for my saltwater aquarium but not sure how to hook up the output pins to the wires that go to the bulb. It says pin 1&2 - fila1 and pin 3&4 - fila2, what the heck does that mean? I can't find any wiring diagrams anywhere.

Check the cord to make sure you have continunity throw both leads, check them at the cord reel, there are 2 wires hooked up to it, if not then the cord is bad. Check the swith also, the next cause would be the speen control mounted on the motor, part #04416342, sells for around $85. If your motor checks ok, then it most likely the speed control, they go out quite often.

SOURCE: Replaced Oreck power switch. 2

Both black go to the switch. Power in - black to switch / white to white from motor.
From motor - black to switch / white to white from power cord
The black wire from the power hooks to the off end of the switch and the black wire from the motor hooks to the on end. Third post is not used. The two white wires are connected to each other with a small twist on wire nut.

Testimonial: "I think Oreck used the white connector on the lighted switch for power. I must have tripped the breaker a dozen times with a short."

SOURCE: I am tiring to install

You might not be able to use that switch in your configuration. It appears that the power was run to the light and only two wires were run back to the switch. The old switch only closes to connect those two wires completing the circuit at the lighting fixture, but you need a hot and a neutral to operate the electronic switch that you have.

In reinstalling the cord winder I got a little aggressive I disconnecting the wiring, like all of it. No problem just use my cheat sheet that I now realized it's gone. Help ! I don't want to blow som

Well, I presume that you have two colors. Or perhaps three.

I am not familiar with your model, but Green is always ground, all whites go together.

That leaves black. Black it the hot wire, and wants to go to the switch FIRST. Then other blacks hook up to the output of the switch.

If you have twist wire connections, be sure to trim up and re twist. leaving no single strand out. Nice and tight.

Can't hook up power cord to main motor on Hoover model F5915100

You have a black and white and green wire. Green is ground white is neutral, black is hot . Should say on the motor either L1 = black wire. L2 = white wire , G = Green wire or it say H = black wire, N = white wire , G or the symbol for ground = green wire

Shop vac blowing instead of vacuuming

Most Shop Vacs allow you to hook the hose up to the output valve as well as the intake.

Make sure that your hose is hooked up to the intake valve on your shop vac.

Kenmore upright Model 116 31912101 Brush doesn't turn. Little red reset pin doesn't move.

Something is jammed in it or the belt is bad.Turn it upside down. You will see 4-6 screws.Remove the screws and the plate they are holding. Now the brush is exposed. The belt hooks on to the brush and a small wheel on the other end.Remove the brush and belt.Make sure the area is free of debris. While you have it off, replace the belt.

How do i charge my i stubble 7890u it came with 2 pin plug i changed it to a 3 pin plug but it keeps blowing the socket

It sounds like you have a stray wire shorting in the 'new' 3-wire plug..
Or some other form of mis-wiring--
Look at the plug, and make sure that your 2 wires are connected only to the 2 spade shaped plug blades--- NOT to the Ground plug.

May I ask-- why you converted to the 3 wire plug?
The 2 wire plug worked in the 2-wire plus ground receptacles, OK, didn't it?

When i put hose in port it will not turn on...all the other ports work except one

Open the door on the inlet port and look inside. You should see 2 small pins. These pins are spring loaded to make contact with the metal end of your hose when you plug it in. Two low voltage wires are screwed to the underside of these pins. The low voltage wires go all the way back to the low voltage switch/relay on your central vac power unit.
Sometimes one or both of these pins will just break so that they don't make contact with the end of your hose. If you see no pins or just one then you will have to replace the inlet cover.
If both pins are present; push down on them with your finger. If you feel resistance then your inlet is probably OK.
CAUTION: IF YOUR CENTRAL VAC INLETS HAVE A 110 VOLT CONNECTION, REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT OF YOUR INLET SHOULD ONLY BE DONE BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
Remove the two screws in the faceplate. Carefully slide the inlet cover out. Check the two screw on wiring connections. Make sure both wires are securely attached and that there are no breaks.
If neither of the above fixed your problem, you may have a broken or disconnected wire somewhere between this inlet and the low voltage witch at your power unit.

My dyson will not switch on , the last time I used it the power faded in and out a couple of times I wiggled the lead and it continued to work. However today it will not power up, I have changed the fuse...

hi from uk the symptoms you described is a classic fault with where power wire has broken within the main cable usually at pint where it enters the vac ? hence wriggling wire temporarily makes contact are you sure the wires in plug are connected into their pins securely ? constant pulling on wire whilst vacuuming does cause this fault also kinking in wire you can diy replace the whole cable and replace with longer length as i usually advise so you can reach further without having to swap sockets ? hope this helps/inspires you ?
