Question about Televison & Video
A lot depends on model number but most of the Hitachi sets use two convergence chips--most popular ones are STK-392-110 OR STK-392-150.
REPAIR involves getting at them and replacing them, only other part that fails is protect resistor around them. I will attach some photos so you know what the chips look like and what to look for if a bad resistor.
Total parts cost (if parts purchased on EBAY) will be under 25 dollars and typical repair takes about one hour.
This can be a do it yourself fix if you are handy. I can tell you what is needed.

The black parts are the chips--number is printed on them in white.
note the two resistors that are burnt in the middle, discolored. All of the resistors are easy to test.
