I need to put a security code on my wireless router so my neighbors cant use it but i am unsure how to do this.

Use the cd that came with the Router. Run the cd like you did when you first got it. You should come to a point where it recommends a WPA security. Click it. Then you just have to create a password. Complete the rest of the setup. Then you will have to go to any device connected through the router and put in the password. That should keep your neighbor from leeching off you.

For got password for Zyxel wireless router x-550N

You need the installation CD. You can do a hard reset on the back of the device using a toothpick or very small screwdriver. Then you have to use the cd to put it all back in that is if it came with security functions. If it didn't then this hard reset will take care of it for you.

How do I secure my WBR-1310?It has already been installed. If I put the installation CD back in will it direct me to security?

First you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is usually or and lookup for the options to do the following: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password password.)
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)

Next step is to secure it:
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Settings" 2.Under "Security Options", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Apply

Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key to access the internet.

I have a Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router. during the installation, i get to a password stage. there are already numbers filled in. I click on next and the installation does not progress. I get sent...

Just to put it out there I am a network specialist so my advise is something to consider

Try this..

1. Look on the back on the Router and while its plugged in press and hold the Reset button for a least 10 sec. You should see the lights on the front change or blink. After that let it sit for a few min. Then try to run the cd installation again. When it comes to the username and password .. Not enter a username just put admin for the password. That should let you finish your setup.

Now there is 2 ways to set up your router.

Use CD (For New Users That Are Not Familiar With Routers)

Login manually by opening your web browser and typing
Do not enter a username and for the password put admin.

That will take you to the manual setup for the router.

Once you set up your router make sure you change your password from admin ..

Hint: Use WPA Personal or WPA 2 Personal security to secure your wireless network. WEB security is junk and not very secure

How do i put it to where no one else can use my

You can use the web based utility to make your router secure (password protected). Type exactly into your browser (where you type in and it will take you to your routers web based setup. Go through the tabs and settings and enter your password that you desire. The default for routers if not changed by the owner is usually USERNAME = Admin PASSWORD = Admin
If you need further assistance Click HERE to go to Dlinks website for your model router.
I hope this helps and good luck!

You can actually configure the wireless security without the CD. Just open a browser and type in the address bar
It will prompt you for the router's username and password. Type in the router's password (if you changed it) if not, the default password is admin.

Go to Wireless>Wireless Security.

On this page you can change your wireless name or SSID and you can enable WEP or WPA/WPA2.

Make sure you that you enter the same wireless keys on your wireless computers as soon as you save the changes on your router because you will lose your connection if you do this on a wireless computer.

Disconnect your modem and other devices from your wireless router and connect your laptop/PC to your wireless router through ethernet port ( keep your ip settings to automatic in network settings of your Laptop/PC) then type the ip number in your web browser's address bar.

Here you are you will get the login page of your router.Default login id is "admin" and password is "password" if this password is wrong then try with the password "admin".

After logging into the page you will find the wireless security that you can find your security key.

Installation cd missing for wireless router

You do not need the disk

While it is powered up look for the reset button on the back and put a pencil or other non-metallic onto the button and hold it in for 10 seconds

It will reset and set the username to "admin" and the password to "password" or "admin"

If this does not work do not put in a username but enter "admin" for the password

You can then use the setup wizard to connect the internet broadband
