carburetor kits will be available from the engine manufacturer that is fitted to the genset ( so if honda go to a honda small engine place with the engine model )
go google and type in -- spares for hobart generator sets -- and there are pages available that will list catalogs or distributors for the parts

Champion 4500 watt generator. 140 amp ac welder Hobart, What type of oil does this need and how much

This welder generator has a Briggs & Stratton 305cc gasoline engine. The service and maintenance manual is at http://www5.briggsandstratton.com/eu/cz/pdf/owners_manual/100%5CMS3780-GB.pdf

Page two has a chart for the oil by ambient temperature ranges and whether or not you use synthetic oil.

5w30 and 10w30 synthetic are good for all temperatures. That's what I recommend.

I have a hobart champion 4500, hard to strike an arc. what should i do?

Ensure your engine is in good running condition
The auto idle switch should function correctly
Remove the front cover of the welding generator, held by 2 1/4-20 screws
Behind that cover you will see a brush lock assembly, will have 2 wires connected at the top, one is insulated, one is not, mark the leads before you remove them to maintain correct polarity on the slip rings, the brush block is held in place by two Phillips screws, remove the screws, unplug the brush block,'remove it, check to see if the brushes move easily in the brush block, this is a common problem with these machines, the brushes tend to bind in the block, will not make proper contact against the slip rings.....
Remove the brushes from the holder, using a square of "scotch Brite" wipe the brushes, you may see a line around the brush, remove that by gentle cleaning, install the brush block, connect the leads, install the cover, go to work

Starts with ether then dies. I've cleaned the carburator and changed the gas.

Make sure that fuel flows freely from the tank to the carburetor. There should be a petcock (shut off valve) that has a screen on it (inside the tank), which also can become plugged with sediment. Work backwards from the carb, checking also the fuel supply line, back to the tank.

FLOODING CAN TURN FUEL VALVE NEARLY OFF AND WILL RUN ROUGH BUT NOT REALLY GOOD ENOUGH TO DO ANY WELDING

sounds like the float in the carburetor is stuck open. remove the float bowl and use a parts cleaner or carb cleaner and spray down the float and seat area, make sure that the float moves freely and the seat moves and seals properly.

I have a Hobart Champion 10,000 welder generator. It runs but I am getting no juice out of it. Won't weld or put out power to run anything.

measure ouput on ALL available sockets - anything?
Take cover off electric motor-generator, visually inspect windings.
Measure continuity of all stator windings (2 or 3 points usually)
Measure continuity of stator thru brushset.
If all measures ok - has to be AVR module.

There is no mistery in generator - just stator to induce and rotor to obtain voltage.
