It means exactly what it says. Whatever file you are trying to use is not supported by that phone. Hope that helps to clairify the issue.

My Nokia E88 phone can not play video files, message showing as fail to open file.

Dear user,

Maybe the file format is not supported, typically newer phones of Nokia support 3gp and MP4 formats, if your file is windows media player file it wont open unless you install an additional software.

or you need to convert the file you want into the formats supported by phone and then transfer to cell phone.

there are many free software available for conversion of file formats as well software's to play multiple formats on phone

When i connect to other phone i cannot receive files from them it always failed please help me

Are you trying to connect via Bluetooth?

Bluetooth have different profiles. The Bluetooth profiles are A2DP (for connecting the phone to a headset with mono sound), AVRCP (for headset with stereo sound and remote control), Dial up networking (for internet connection), and FTP or File Transfer (for sending or receiving files).

Your phone should support FTP or File Transfer. If your phone does not have FTP, it will connect to other phone, but it will fail when you try to transfer any files. You may need to verify it by checking the user's manual or by calling the tech support of your phone.

If your phone does not support FTP, ask the tech support if there's a firmware that will add the FTP profile to your phone.

If your phone supports FTP, but it keeps on failing on receiving a file via Bluetooth, then try to soft reset the phone by removing the battery for 5 mins. If the same problem occurs, then this phone needs to be reprogrammed.

Thank you!

File format not supported.... I can't play a mp3 file on my phone despite changing name already

try to delete the file or mp3. after deleting the file transfer another mp3 file using a cable or by bluetooth.
this phone supports MP3/AAC/M4A however if your file e.g is not supported and you just rename it it wont work because it was not originally written in the file format that you device can handle.

hope this help

My cellphone model was samsung 930sc,my problem is everytime i tried to store music on my sd card and inserted it on my phone,i cannot open the songs.,and it only says that the file was not supported. What...

Some phones only support certain file types. Your phone may support MP3 files but only at certain bit rates. Or you may be putting WMA files on the phone and the phone cannot play them. But your specific problem is simple...whatever songs you are putting on the card are not supported by the phone. Check your instructions that came with the phone or the manufacturer's web site to see what specifications the phone has. It will tell you what audio files are supported.
