Laptop touchpad insperion 600,defective touchpad

Run a diagnostics
turn off your system
press and hold Fn key ,power on the system, leave fn key
it will start running a diagnostic
it will give you an option to press any key to continue
press any key and you will get 4 options
express test
custom test
extended test and
symptom tree
choose symptom tree
you will get list of devicec
choose keyboard run test
it will highlight some keys you have to press
if everything works fine here
hardware is working fine
then you have to take the system back to day one or use Operating system cd to reinstall the operating system

Look for a driver on dell... if that doesnt work then get a new touchpad or send it back to dell and tell them to shove it.

This POST code means there is a problem with the RAM.
Reseat the RAM and if the Dell still does not boot up then -
If it still does not boot up then could be faulty. Remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you.

My Dell Vostro 1014 laptop's touch pad does not work!! The buttons work fine but I'm having problems with the pad. The drivers are up to date and the application used to control the touchpad c


If you have a external mouse, or you can borrow, go into device manager to see if the pad is enabled, if okay! try a system restore bringing the computer back in time before this happened, if still no luck the sensor pad maybe defective, the last option a complete recovery of the operational system to factory setting, this will prove if the sensor pad is defective, or wire ribbon might have come loose from the motherboard.

Try plugging in a USB mouse and see if the right click works on that. If so then you probably have a defective right click button on your laptop. You will need to have the "palm rest" (the plastic top portion) replaced.

The touchpad mouse on my toshiba salellite does not function even though it shows it working properly when you go into the touchpad icon. I have an external wireless mouse (usb) hooked up that works fine...


The touchpad is most probably defective. If you have dropped your laptop the touchpad cable could have get out from its connector on the mainboard. You can get a new touchpad/palmrest on ebay. You have to remove your touchpad/palmrest as shown in the link below, steps 17 to 19 :

Identify the part number of your touchpad/palmrest. Search on ebay.com : Toshiba Satelitte A105 palmrest. Buy the one with the same part numer as yours.

Touchpad is not working I updated the driver used the FN key to turn it on and off checked to see if it was diabled it's not so are there something i missed sys Toshiba Satellite L305-s5921


Check the touchpad to be on in BIOS if this option is available. If on an attempt to reinstall your operating system you have no life sign from your touchpad, it means your palmrest/touchpad is defective or its cable connection on the board was affected (e.g. cable get out after you have dropped your laptop). Have it replaced by a professional.

If the touchpad is not working, then ensure that the touchpad is not disabled in the BIOS, in control panel ensure that is is not disabled there either. If the touchpad is not disabled in BIOS or Control Panel, then a palmrest would be required to fix the issue. On a system of that age, I'd just use a wireless mouse till I was ready to replace the system

if you are technically inclined, you can remove the keyboard and check the cable for the touchpad to see if it has become unseated, if it hasn't, you may need to replace the touchpad, the cable, or the motherboard. This can happen if it has been droppped or jarred, or from a manufacturering defect

My touchpad mouse and didn't working(presario v2000)


it could be the touchpad connector/cable get defect....
mouse drive barely have problem as it given by Windows ,
can try and order a touchpad set from ebay,and if that dont work,
guess you'll have to get a USB mouse for that.......
