I was able to turn off the water and stop the leaking. Are there any drawings I can refer to in order to check the things that you mentioned to check?

Although the comment was not in and of itself very useful, it did point me to a site that was, which helped me to solve the problem. I didn't have to wait long for comments, which made the service very worth while to me. Thanks

Hi!!

If your icemaker is leaking water into your ice bucket or onto your floor, several things could be the source of the problem. Check the following items:

  • Be sure the water line fittings are secure.
  • Check the water valve for leaks.
  • See if water is leaking from the fill tube extension.
  • See if the defrost water drain is cracked or overflowing.
  • Check for water on the exterior of the refrigerator case.
  • See if the refrigerator is leveled.

Note: If the icemaker is leaking water onto the floor of your home, turn off the water supply to your icemaker. This line is usually located under the kitchen sink. Locate the cold water line under the sink, and look for a small 1/4" copper line attached to it. Where these two lines meet, there will be a saddle valve. Sticking out from this valve will be a post with a wire running through it. This is the shut-off valve. Turn this valve in a clockwise manner until it stops. This will shut off the water to the icemaker. If the water line is not connected under the sink, it will be in the basement or crawl space.

Keep me posted!!

Hotpoint refrigerator leaking water from hose underneath

It sounds like this may be coming from the icemaker water valve. If the refrigerator is an older one the tubing gets brittle and cracks. Check this first. But the water valve is usually on the left side in the back.

GE Profile Icemaker freezing up; water freezes down inside wall of freezer; icemaker making ice, very slowly, but will not dispense. Water is still dispensing

This sounds like your water valve is not completely closing allowing water to drip and freeze. First check to make sure that the water tube going into the cup of the ice maker is lined up correctly and not causing this problem - if it is lined up correctly then replace the water valve on the back of the refrigerator that your main line is connected to.

All water underneath.ice in the bottom.freezer working.not making

If I understand you correctly your water line that comes through the back wall of the freezer and into the icemaker is frozen. If so you have a bad water valve. When the valve goes bad it will not seal off the water. It will seep causing a slow drip where the water comes out at you icemaker. It'd slow enough to freez causing a ice blockage. This will not allow water to come through and fill your icemaker when it calls for water.

Either the inlet valve is stuck or the icemaker solenoid is shored.

Most likely the second one.
