I would start by changing the lamp if you haven't already. You can buy them on ebay. Just enter your model number. Unfortunately there is no way to test a lamp to tell if it's bad or not other than trying one. You will need one eventially anyway, so you might as well try. Lamps on average last around 2 years. I've seen several go out in less time than that. It just depends on how much it's played. If it isn't that, then I would visibly inspect the power supply module and make sure that there aren't any electrolytic capacitors that are swollen or domed on top rather than flat. Any that are domed should be replaced. I've seen a few dlp's that have had caps cause shutdown problems before. If it's still in warranty I would contact mitsubishi about it and they will pay for a tech to look at it.

WD-62531 fan

If the fans aren't operating then the set shouldn't stay on or even turn on. If its the main lamp exhaust fan then you are looking for part number 299P288010. They are relatively easy to replace as they only have a 3 pin connector that will plug into the main board or the power supply. Verify its that fan and as always if you replace it yourself make sure the set is unplugged. Once replaced the back will have to be re-installed or the set will not work as it has a safety switch that detects when the lamp door is off and on.

Have a Mitsubishi 65 rear projection menu keeps fading on and off, any ideas of the problem. Bulb just replaced 2 months ago, no problems with bulb. Also a DVD works fine, but tv picture will not come on.

Mitsubishi WD-62531 Replaced lamp 2 weeks ago. Red light flashing again. Same problem but the lamp is fine. Sound but no picture.

You have either a bad ballast (it powers the lamp) or a bad DMD board. Either one of those will result in a no lamp fire issue. Have a technician look at it...

Check to make sure your lamp is not blown.

Make sure you installed a Mits original, and not a generic.

Make sure the lamp is seated and secured properly, as slight movement can cause a loss of connection.

Slide your set out to the side and peer into it through the slats. Can you see the lamp fire on?

Your symptom does not indicate that it could be a problem other than the lamp and the installation thereof, however---there is an instance where 2 capacitors will blow on the power supply and cause a red lamp light to show. Furthermore, the light engine itself could be causing the problems.

But, since you just installed the lamp, I would look over your installation.

Mitsubishi Projection TV WD-62525

this set has 3 temperture sensors. If the set gets too hot it will shut down.
first clean the cooling fan as it may be full of dust.
if this is not the cure the one of the sensors is likely bad.
Thanks Guy9
