I have a Whirlpool GR448LXPS1 electric cooktop. The inner ring on the right dual zone burner stopped powering on but the outer ring still works. Also, temperature on the left dual zone burner gets really hot even though it is set low. Could this be a control issue or an element issue?

SOURCE: COOKTOP

its been my experience that the dual burner switch is far more likely the culprit, unless you can physiclaly see the outer ring is broken( visual inspection works wonders. as far as trying to ohm out i generally look at theelemnet itself (4 wires lead to the elemnt you can trace 1 to the outer portion of element, and 1 to the inner portion.WITH POWER OFF Iswithc those 2 wires and the restore power try element ad watch for outer ring to work inner ring no good. now i know its the switch not sending power. reset wires and order new switch

SOURCE: Heating element will not come on

The best to test that is to remove the top and take the outer coil and use it on any of the other burners to see if it heats up, then youll know for sure is the element or the switch.

SOURCE: Burner temperature is always on high heat even at low setting

not related any further then sounds as if you have 2 burner switches gone bad,and actually the front right burner is controlled by a electronic control circuit board part retails for about $160-$200 part number 12002723, and left rear switch about $30 part number 74007841 . uint needs to be uninstalled from counter and parts changed by removing the bottom panel

SOURCE: The dual element on my electric smooth-glass

Hi, my humble advice to you is to call in the repair man to come and carry out a check and properly diagnose what the problem is.
You might be lucky to have a fuse problem which th repair man will find and replace it and if the element goes beyond the fuse issue, the repair man will be in the best position to determine if you are to purchase and install a burner module or buying a new cooktop...
So call in the repairman first.....

How do i turn the outer ring on for a dacor stove top

Pushing the button for the element will turn on the inner element at level 5. Before adjusting the level (so while the level indicator is still blinking) press the little circle on the right side of the controls for that element. The circle should light up. Now press the UP control for that element, and the level indicator should stop blinking. Now the outer and inner elements are both heating up. Adjust temp level to desired setting.

Frigidaire ES340 Range One element from Dual element doesn't work

The elements DO BURN OUT. Replace it.

Often you can see evidence of a hot spot on the element where the final failure occured, but not always.

I have a neff T1.D20 dual circuit hotplate but although the inner lights up and gets hot the outer part doesnt. Is the outer part supposed to?

I have a T172 model which also has a dual circuit hotplate.

In the control area you should find a dual circuit control pad - this has two concentric circles on it. With the hob switched on, pressing this button will chnage the mode of the dual circuit hot plate bewteen:
1. Just the inner part
2. Both the inner and outer together.

When the hob is switched off using the Standby control pad, it remembers which mode was selected and will therefore work the same next time it is switched on. However, it is worth noteing that when the mains power to the hob is interuppted, either by an isolator switch/breaker, or a power cut, the hob defaults back to just the inner ring mode.

Miele KM 320 G gas cooktop ignitor

I had a similar problem and discovered that the control knob had fried itself, most likely due to liquid penetration down the shaft of the control knob and into the control knob electronics. Inside is a printed circuit board with resistor, diode and a rheostat. The surface of the board was charred beyond repair.
To trouble shoot the problem, open the cook top and hook the burner in question to one of the known good control knobs. If it ignites, then it is the control knob electronics. If it doesn’t, then there is something wrong with the igniter.
Note: The 2-zone Wok Burner had a different control knob that the other burners.
To open the cook top, do NOT loosen any of the Phillips screws on the sides. Here are the instructions from the user manual:
Disassembly
Shut off gas supply, disconnect the manifold pipe, disconnect the electrical power. Remove pan supports, burner heads and burner rings. Remove control knobs.
In the event that the hob is built in, undo the bracket clamps underneath the work surface. Lift the hob on to the work surface. Unscrew the venturis on the high-speed and super high-speed burners using a 20 mm wrench. Lift and remove the burner rings and burner base plates. Disconnect the wires from the ignition plugs. Keep the wire from dropping into the undertray by inserting it in one of the slots in the burner supports.
Remove the three screws securing the dual ring wok burner. Remove the wok burner base plate. Lift the ceramic tray from the hob.
Note: Each regulator shaft is equipped with a black ring. This ring may cling to the rubber seal in the ceramic tray. Check and remove the rings from the rubber seals.

My Viking VECU105 electric cooktop has one burner which will not regulate the temperature. It can be turned on and off with the control knob, but after that, there is no temperature control. Any ideas on...

It will need either a dual infinite or infinite switch, If the burner has an inner an outer element then it requires the dual.

Firstly turn power off at breaker.

The unit needs to be removed from the cut out and the cover removed from below the swtichs. the knob taken off and the secureing screws removed, then take note of the layout of the wiring and the poistion of the switch, then swap the wires, reassemble test and then re-install
