Question about Honeywell Focus 6300B 5-2 Days Programmable Thermostat Heater

RTH6300B - Not blowing the hot air

Hello All,
I bought a Honeywell RTH6300B thermostat from the local Home Depot.

Installed it, everything looks ok....except hot air does not come. Room temperature shows 69F. I set the temperature (Manual Override...since I haven't tried programming it yet) to 77F just to test the heating. I see the "Heat on" symbol come up (stays constant...not flashing). However, if I check the vent, I cant feel the hot air blowing. The fan is in "auto". I tried speaking with their customer support. Customer support gave me some baloney about the furnace meeting its maximum capacity. I removed the thermostat and put back the old manual thermostat. Everything works as normal.

Any help in figuring this out will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sci

I have the exact same problem. I just called the Honeywell tech line and they said that it is my forced air furnace and not my new thermostat. Funny though, when I put my 30 year thermostat back on the furnace works just fine.

I currently have a 2 wire system. I have one red and one white. I hooked the red to the R and the white to the W. I had to go into the system setup using the UP arrow button and the FAN button. The first setting is the 1 setting, and I selected number 2 ( Heating Only ). Then the 5 setting. I selected number 1 ( Gas/oil steam or gravity system ). Then 14 is usually 0 for Fahrenheit. I was just messing around and that is the buttons I used and I tested it. The furnace kicked on and then 10 to 15 secs later the air began to blow through the vents. I hope this works for others who read this.

Are these thermostats still available

Hi, if you are talking about Honeywell thermostats, yes they are just about any hardware store such as Home Depot, Lowe's, and wholesale a/c and heating houses, but you have to know or be a contractor to buy one there. Home Depot will have them.

The following are the two manuals for ths product, I looked briefly and didn't see an answer to your wuestion. If you want to change the number of degrees between heating and cooling operation from 1 to 3 degress that can be found in the operating manual, under programming. 69-1723 - RTH6300B - Programmable Thermostat Operating Manual

Honeywell RTH6300B to replace Trane Baystat 239

Sad to say but you have bought an non compatible thermostat, what you need is a thermostat that has "Heat Pump" somewhere on the package, Honeywell makes those also in the same models, sometimes they can be tricky if your not looking. It should also say 2heat, 1cool too. Hope this helps and good luck!

If you go to your local home depot, and get a new thermostat, it will come with different diagrams for wiring in the instructions that are pretty easy to understand. I hope this helps.

How do I get my honeywell system up and going?

for now, put switches on thermostat to hear and press the up arrow button to the desired temp. All your programed temps will take more explaining and it would be best you secure a owners instruction book from home depot. oif anything, buy thr same thermostat and either keep it or return it . I'd keep it regardless, read the pmphlet, program you heat and a/c before returning for refund. Don't destroy packaging and give them back everything. You will also need two AAbatteries. Good luck.

I have installed a honeywell programable thermostat that has been working well until the outdoor temp reached higher temps. Now it continuously blows like a fan and does not cool the home.

Sounds like the t-stat is wired wrong or if you bought a honeywell from home depot didn't set up correctely. You could also have other issues, like low on freon, dirty filters. You might need to call a Service company to take a look at it.

Is sounds like you wired it correctly, The black is a little unusual perhaps its blue, anyway, try disconnecting the wires from the thermostat and see if it shuts off. If so, then it may need to re calibrated. I will need some more info to help you anymore.
