Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a 3 year old toploader Whirlpool AWE6515. It has gradually stopped spinning for both the wash and rinse cycles. What ever programme it is set to it goes straight to drain. It doesn' fill in automatically with water although it is connected, could the pressure be too low?

Hi and welcome to FixYa I am Kelly. This is not a solution so feel free to reject the answer. I just want to state that everything Service and repair info for this washer is written in Persian and that I can not locate any English data to help you.

The gradually stop spinning problem is most likely the clutch pads are worn and unrealted to your drain issue. (Clutches wear out quickly when the user washes more clothes than the machines' actual capacity.)

The always draining problem is most likely due to the motor not reversing for agitation. This can be 1. a broken wire 2. A bad timer assy 3. a bad motor. 4. Water level Pressure switch None of which you wanted to hear I am sure.

Like I said feel free to reject this answer. Who knows maybe we have an expert here at FixYa that can read persian and help you. I do not know of any at this time but, it does not hurt to try.

Just a thought here. Can you hear an audible click as the lid is just opened or closed? You could have something simple like a failed lid switch causing your no fill problem (doubt it but, give it a test) Also... turn off the water supply and check the inlet screens for debris in the water valve inlet ON the back of the washer. The screens can be removed by dragging a small knife blade on the outside edge of the screen. Once you have them remove wash them under slowly running water and rub them with your fingers to clean them. Then reinstall them connect the hoses and test for water flow. If you still do not have flow after that we could still be looking at the lid switch as the source of the problem. There are other things to check electrically after the lid switch but will involve testing items 1 - 4 of my first post with power and for continuity.

Oko 72630. Why is it stuck on rinse cycle?

Could be several reasons:
- Selected the "Night cycle" program (means standing with the drum full of water, reason: too much noise in the spin cycle)
- Set to the "Rinse hold" (means standing with the drum full of water, reason: wrinkles on the clothes)

According to your description I think that this is not a failure otherwise error E20 will be appears on display.

Once the washing programme has come to an end, END illuminates on the programme progress display.
If RINSE HOLD was selected, the display beside the START/ PAUSE button flashes.
1. After a rinse hold, the water must first be pumped out:
- Either press the START/PAUSE button (the water is pumped out and the washing is spun according to the completed programme;
After the START/PAUSE button is pressed again, the spin speed can still also be changed during spinning), or
- Turn the programme selector to PUMP OUT and press the START/PAUSE button (the water is pumped out without spinning),or
- Turn the programme selector to SPIN or SHORT SPIN and press theSTART/PAUSE button (the water is pumped out and the washing is spun or gently spun).
At the end of this programme step, the END indicator will illuminate.
2. Open the door.
As soon as the DOOR indicator lights up green, the door can be opened.

My Whirlpool Toploader washer model LSR8233JO1 stops at rinse cycle after draining. I have to manually advance it to the spin cycle and sometimes it won't spin.

It is possible that you have a timer issue since you say you are having to manually advance the timer. There is a small motor mounted on the timer that normally advances the timer and for some reason, possibly a burned contact, it is not advancing from that point. You might need to call in a repair tech. Hope this helps!

Wash doesn't progress to rinse and spin

This is one of 3 faults
1 you may have a problem with the heating cycle check element
2 you might have a water valve not working
3 there may be a program fault

Programme not moving on

This is not something like a belt or a motor then...It's probably the Logic in the control system.

Your best bet is have a hotpoint engineer diagnose it - and fit a new control module. To buy from hotpoint they range from 70 to 90 Sterling.

In england the call out is £90 and they actually don't charge for parts if the machine less than 5 years old.
