On these little carbs, a good starting point (before fine tuning the carb) is about One and one-half turns out (counterclockwise) from a lightly seated postition. That should allow the unit to start and you can fine tune from there.

How do i tell the differance betwen the high and low speed needles for a c1q zama carberator

LOW Speed is always nearest the engine...

High speed is always nearest the air filter...

PERIOD...

now there are some that only have one adjustment needle and it\'s an air bleed only (worthless crap)

or in Echo\'s case it\'s a single adjustment carb (still worthless)

How do i set my carburetor on ny 440 evl echo chainsaw

The carb has two screws. One for low end and one for high end. You will have to determine which is which. While the saw is idling you need to set you low end. The high end of course would be set with how high you want the RPM. With this side of it you need to check the manufacturers notes for how high. Too high is bad for the motor.

I have the Echo 413H model, backpack blower. Blower starts and idles but shuts down when switched to high power mode. Help?

Sounds like a carbuerator adjustment. Turn the low speed adjustment screw counterclockwise 1 guarter turn.(closest to engine block) Turn the high speed out the same (farthest from engine block). You may have to tweak it a little, those adjustments vary. Hope that gets ya going.

What is h and l screws for we have been moving them around to try make the saw tick over as it keep cutting out

"H" is high speed and "L" is low speed. Turn both screws in full, then unscrew them one and a half turns each. Start the saw, you may have to adjust the trottle screw to keep it running. Then adjust the "L" screw a little, in or out, with the trottle screw until you are happy with it ticking over. then adjust the "H" screw to get it to run full. You need time and patience. Stephen.

Engine dies upon acceleration after starting and idling

turn the high speed and low speed mixture screws right in[gently]then out 2.5 turns.start it up,screw the idle screw up till it will idle, then adjust low speed mixture screw in or out so you get the highest idle.keep lowering the idle so as you adjust the screw,it wont get it any higher in revs.so by now it should idle.next, open the throttle wide, and adjust the high speed screw until you get maximum revs..then,turn screw 1/4 turn out.that makes it slightly richer, cooling the plug with droplets of petrol.you dont want it lean.if it wont rev fully, check the fuel filter.they get dirty quite often

t is your throttle stop
l is your low speed jet for fine tuning low rpm.s and idel itself.
h is high speed jet.

basic settings for the L and H jets are one turn out / open

throttle stop will vary but once you have it ideling you can tune that one while you are holding the trottle then go back to the L jet till u got it running sweet. then re adjust throttle stop if necessary. now move on to high speed jet.

Cleaned carb on echo headge trimmer how do i redo

It will depend on what type of carburetor you have. You can go to this website and enter your model and it should give you the correct settings. If you cannot find the info, start with each about 1 1/2 turns out and go from there. A little hit and miss and you will figure the correct setting. When setting the high speed, you want to hold the throttle wide open and slowly adjust the screw. It will suddenly start to run very smoothly, and that's a good setting for the high speed.

TUNING THE CARBURETTER

Start with the L or low speed screw at one turn and the H or high speed screw at two turns. To get good responce from idle play with the low speed screw. For top end engine peaking use the high speed screw. Hold the throttle wide open and turn the screw either way till you peak out the RPM'S . Hope this will be helpful. Donnyb60

Need high and low ajustment procedure

Hi carlayoung

Start the engine and turn the high speed screw "H" in(clockwise)until the engine starts to slow down(the fuel mixture is to lean, not enough gas).

Slowly turn the screw out(counterclockwise)until the engine begins to run smoothly, keep going very slowly until the engines just begins to run rough again(rich condition, watch for black smoke from exhaust).

Then turn the screw in again(clockwise) to a point about half way between lean and rich condition. This is the properly setting.

The low speed screw"L" adjust in the same manner.

The idle speed "T"adjust accordingly.
