Maytag dishwasher MDB6160AWB "Clean" indicator

Hi

It may be an issue with heater circuit, door switch or wash pump, please reset the power to the dishwasher. After, 5 minutes check if you are still getting the same error. If yes, then it is a water heating fault. To resolve this error try pressing this reset sequence-- Heat Dry - Normal - Heat Dry - Normal or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry or Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry, Hi Temp Scrub, energy saver dry. Now let the unit run for 2-3 minutes and then you press the Cancel/Drain button and allow it to completely drain and reset. If this doesn't work then it's an issue with the wash pump not pumping the water past the heater efficiently or due to lack of water to heat. Please make sure that heater is not open circuited and is heating the water efficiently. You'll have to check the heater using a multimeter; the meter should read between 3000 to 3300 ohms (Use multimeter on Rx1 ohm setting). If heater is fine then make sure water pressure is optimum and fill valve is working fine. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

Water enters dishwasher, the unit seems to go on hold, then it will drain. Nothing else works as far as the washing cycle or any thing else.

this could be that the main pump id defective, once water enters the main pump does all the work to throw the water around and clean, once that is done the water is drained etc.
so when you dont hear anything this indicates that the main pump is not running.

supect this part first.

I hope this was useful

Clean lite keeps flashing will not start whenstart

The thermistor beneath the accumulator inside the sump detects the water temperature as it begins the first 8 minutes of the main wash cycle. During this time, the controller expects the thermistor to detect the 2-4 degrees rise in the water temperature when the first 8 minutes is completed. If the expected temperature rise is not met, the controller will not be satisfied. It will shut the dishwasher down and blink the clean light 7 times. Press the heated dry then normal wash buttons in the same sequence two times. The unit will enter diagnostics mode, but can be stopped by pressing the cancel button. It will clear the fault and makes the dishwasher normal but will appear again if you have problem in either of the following:
  1. Heater and its circuitry
  2. Water filling
  3. Pumping motor
If the heater is not working, the water temperature will not rise then controller will shutdown the machine.
If there's no water entering the machine, no water will be heated and there's no way the controller through the thermistor can detect any rise in temperature.
If the pumping motor is not working, the water cannot circulate over the heater and be heated. Again, the controller will not be satisfied.

You can bypass this fault detection feature by filling the machine with either extremely cold or extremely hot water. Water colder than 62 or hotter than 160 degrees Fahrenheit will make the controller not to check for a temperature rise but rather continue on the next cycle.
Please let me know if the problem still bother you.

Doesn't shut off

i think you are hearing the drain pump going. take the bottom front panel off so as to expose the bottom tray. yoy willprobably find this full of water. mop water out and it should work. if fault reoccurs then you have a leak.
turn power off first

Watch the light closely. If it blinks 7 times then pauses, this indicates a heater or door latch issue.
  • Press the following buttons in sequence: Hi Temp Wash, Heated Dry, Hi Temp Wash, Heated Dry, Hi Temp Wash.If this doesn't work, check the tech sheet. (should be stuck to inside of the bottom toe panel)
  • All lights should illuminate then a diagnostic sequence will start.
  • Listen carefully, as soon as you hear the water begin to fill, open the door and feel the heater. if cold, check the heater for continuity (should be around 10ohms)
  • Also, bend the door catch on the dishwasher tub downward, this will engage the door latch better. Don't bend too far as it will hit the door while closing.
