Question about Dell Latitude D500 Notebook
There's a brilliant piece of software called Ccleaner.
You can download for free from Filehippo.com.
Once you've run the cleaner, got all the web garbage off the laptop, Go to the tools menu, select startup and delete all the applications except for antivirus, malware and firewall applications from the start up menu. All programmes will still be available.
Finally, give it a defrag.

Please follow the steps below to make it faster a bit....
Click Start-> Run, type msconfig and click Ok. The System Configuration Utility will start. Now click on Startup tab. You will see a list of programs which starts automatically when Windows starts.
In that list, uncheck the program items, which you generally don't use. It will make your computer a little faster.
The above procedure can also be modified a little, that is uncheck all items under Startup tab, restart your computer.
Now check one item at a time, restart computer and test the speed of your computer. This way, you will find the programs, which are making the computer show. Remember to use a pen and paper to take a note about which items you are selecting or unselecting.
Please try one more thing:
Open Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> System. Click on Advanced tab. Under Performance, click on Settings, click on Adjust for best performance, click Apply and Ok.
Then do this Click->Start->Programes->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Clean Up and select the C:Drive and clean it

You can download the drivers from Dell WEB site, the
support download page. Make sure you select your model desktop or laptop,
better still, type in the Service Tag number, it is printed on the label on the
bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag
label is missing then go into the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages,
the Service Tag number will be displayed). This will open the page where the
specific drivers for your model computer are located. Also make sure you select
the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating
system. Click on this link to download the drivers: -
