Remove the RAM, clean reinstall it. If its a 1x2GB Ram then OK, if there are more then1 ram then check removing & installing one by one. there might be some problem with the slot or RAM. If there are more then one RAM and both the RAM is not same capacity then also problem starts. so better check the RAMs for same capacity. if RAMS are not of same capacity then use the hi capacity one & check.

Can the LG Xnote RD405 laptop intially with 1gb RAM be upgraded to 4 gb using two 2gb RAM's ? Please help me by providing an answer clearly, Thanks in Advance.

Here is the memory specifications from LG.

Maximum Size: Each slot is 1024MB and can be expanded to 2048MB.
SO DIMM Type for Memory Expansion: DDR2 SDRAM SO-DIMM (256MB, 512MB, 1024MB)

It can take a maximum of 2 gigabytes of ram. It will take two 1 gb sticks. It uses DDR2 laptop ram. You need to check to see if you have one stick that has 1 gb or 2 sticks that have 512 mb each. That will tell you if you need to buy one or two sticks of ram at 1 gb each. You will be able to tell a difference going from one gb to two gb of ram. I think it would be worth the investment if you plan on using the computer for another year or more.

Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5882 has two RAM ports for 1GB &2 GB DDR2 800MHZ, one got spoiled, am now using 2GB RAM, can this single port operate with 4GB RAM?

Unfortunately, the slots on this motherboard are limited to a max of 2 GB each. You won't be able to use a 4 GB DDR2 800MHz memory stick with this computer. (This limit is due to the way the circuitry/programming of the board was designed.)

I wish that I had better news for you. You might be better off installing a Unix based OS which uses less memory or searching for a new laptop. Just remember to save your files on a different drive before making any changes.

I am using Core 2 quad and my ram is 4GB but the ram is not showing 4gb when i turn on the pc its is just showing physical memory of 1.99 GB

32 bit operating system is limited to 4 gb but on a system fitted with 4GB or RAM and a modest graphics card with 512MB of on-board memory the end user normally sees about 3GB of installed system RAM. So what this means is that the realistic upper RAM limit for a 32-bit OS is more like 3GB. If you’re adding big graphics cards with larger amounts of RAM (or using Crossfire or SLI) then you’ll need to be seriously thinking about a 64-bit OS much sooner.

But it also might be that you have a bad chip try and start the system with one chip at a time if it starts with both then you know there good. Please post the results. ;)

Need to know where to install extra ram into my laptop and i already have 4gb installed Is there extra slots somewhere?

Before you install any extra memory, check the type of operating system and hardware you have and be sure it can address more than 4 Gb. 4Gb is XP's limit in 32 bit. Vista is pretty much the same and can address more but also only with a 64 bit system.

32 bit 64 bit
Windows XP 4 GB
128 GB

Laptop shows only 4gb ram & 300 gb hdd

This is the limitation of a 32 bit (x86) Operating System. A 32 bit OS can detect upto 3GB RAM only.

You may either try installing the x64 Bit of XP Operating System or Vista Service Pack 1 or 2 for 32 bit Vista Operation System to resolve the issue.

After installing the SP 1 or 2 of the Vista OS in the Computer, the OS will detect 4GB RAM.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More ram and vdeo card

it sounds as if your MoBo is seeing the video adapter as a source of ram. if that is the case, then installing memory in units of 1Gb will cause a stick to not be seen, therefore utilized. you may want to refer to you manual for memory limits and poosible comparibility issues. they are usually quite in depth. also, make sure that they are all the same make model and speed. these issues have wreaked havoc on the prettiest of pc's.

YES THE FREQUENCY OF BOTH RAMS DO NOT MATCH ... THATS BOOTING WITH EACH BUT ONLY ONE BY ONE ... YOU NEED RAMS OF SAME FREQUENCY AND SYSTEM WILL SUPPORT BOTH OF THEM TOGETHER ...
