Cannot install whs on ssd using flash drive

I would suggest cloning the OS install.
Install the OS on the 80GB SSD with the Foxconn board that is giving you troubles with the 40GB SSD. Then clone the drives and swap SSDs.
WHS 2011 probably will throw up a flag stating that it needs to be reactivated because of hardware changes, but it should go smoothly.

No need for it. just open the case, attach the new hard disk and leave it outside for the moment, then use this to clone it
http://www.miray.de/products/sat.hdclone.html
Later create another partition in the free space and use it for your files - so you don't lose them if you have to reinstall Windows.

Yes thats a motherboard problem. Try to migrate your system with another board and test. That signs really is from a defective motheboard.

What is a CLONE SYSTEM? What does it mean when a computer system is described as clone?

It is one that is not name branded. A Dell is a name brand. A clone is one that someone built themselves out of parts they selected.

Switching from 40GB IDE HDD to 500GB SATA HDD. SATA won't boot.

Hi there
No there is no need to change any jumpers on a sata drive, go into the bios settings and tell the bios to boot from the western digital drive only.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!!

Replacement mainboard for Umax ActionBook 640 T

Sorry for the confusion. I need iether a new or good used board as the one in the laptop is damaged. I've heard of "clone " notebooks that i could possibly buy cheap that carry the same board but iether I'm looking in the wrong place or they don't exist. If you could let me know where I could get this part I would greatly appreciate it.

Many Thanks,
Sacop.
