Hmm seems a lil odd it appears that maybe your internal computer hard drive is failing or that its not properly connected if its happened recently with no internal computer changes then its definitely the hard drive failing on you

SOURCE: I/O error. HP 1720n won't boot

Run diagnostics on the hard drive (Normally provided either in the F8 or F12 boot menus) and se if you get a failure.

If the drive passes diagnostics, boot to the Vista DVD and run the repair option. (Note: you may have to the Vista repair process 4 or 5 times if there are multiple errors to be resolved)

So, the disk ("hard", not "floppy") drive in your computer is very soon to be "dead".

My sistam is not restore ... WHY???

This error code usually points to an installation of windows that has been corrupted. I'm assuming that you have no USB flash drives plugged into the laptop when booting, if so, remove these and try a reboot.
Then try to boot to safe mode (f8)
If this fails, boot from the CD drive by setting the DC boot option as 1st boot in the bios, put the windows installtion CD in the drive and go through the install proceedure, selecting the REPAIR option.
If this fails, you will need to reinstall windows.
To recover any lost files, after reinstalling windows, download a utility such as recover my files and set it to a format recovery to get any lost files back.

First off you should have backups of all important data in case something like this happens....ok lecture over----now boot to SAFE-MODE (F8 @startup) and go to DEVICE MANAGER and see exactly which device is giving you the issue..I doubt that its the harddrive because at that point you already passed POST and you said WINDOWS encountered the problem with a most likely it is a DRIVER issue (aka software code for all hardware devices)

Windows is corrupted beyond repair, you need to reinstall it. For the recovery discs, call Toshiba at 800-457-7777. They will want to know the computer's serial number and a credit card number.

Windows does not boot up

This is likely your hard drive - this could be a drive error - in which case your drive is likely lost (and the data on it) I'm afraid. A technician would check the cables to your drive are ok. In laptops you can usually take out the hard drive under the laptop. If you can, do this, clean the connectors and plug back in. If that doesn't work then I'm afraid it isnt good.
