SOURCE: Subwoofer hum

Hi,

Based on your description, the internal power supply of the subwoofer amplifier would be suspect. Often it would be a blistered or leaking filter capacitor. It is a relatively easy/inexpensive repair.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: JBL PB10 subwoofer, it makes a loud burp noise when it comes on.

In the industry - It is called "Turn-On Thump".

There are some manufacturers that eliminate components like noise filters on enry level lines to save money.

There is no way to lessen this noise without ripping the amplifier apart and having a technical knowledge of the way amplifiers work. It would involve hard-wiring a slow charge capacitor in the turn on line so it gradually builds power instead of getting it all at once.

Thanks for using FixYa - a FixYa rating is appreciated!!

SOURCE: My JBL PowerBass PB12 makes a continued loud sound when it is on

Have you tried turning the gain down before turning it on. If that works, it might be the internal amp picking up noise somewhere. Maybe even a bad ground. Either way there are only a few things you can try before complaining to the manufacturer or replacing it. Changing its location might help and if it does might indicate RF interference. You can also try running it through a power strip, one equipped with a filter (these are fairly common). Good luck

Describe your Venue SUB10 Subwoofer Problem: The subwoofer won't turn on at all. The red light doesn't even come on. Could it be the fuse in the subwoofer? If so, where is the fuse located?

You can remove the screw near the volume knob and the screw near the on/off switch - then slide out the amp remove the black and white wire - then check the fuse - if its blown look for we repair amps - ebay - if its good then it probably still needs work - it should turn red when plugged in and no signal and green when signal is present - which means amp is on.

Jbl pb10 subwoofer will not come on, that is the two lights in the front will not come even though it is plugged-in

1/ Check the power outlet, dont laugh i have been caught by this one
2/ Is the power cord removable (2 or 3 pin) if so then try another cord.
3/ If not check to see if there is a power switch in the vicinity of the cord
I know it sounds stupid however it does happen.
4/ Check to see if there is a fuse in the same area.
5/ If not you will have to remove the cover back, front, or bottom
to gain acess to the internal power supply, there should be a fuse in
the power supply and or a fuse in the amplifier circuit and or the speaker line.

When i plug in my subwoofer it has a constant hum

Sounds like you have a bad connection somewhere. Make sure all of your connections are secure. If theres anything that is a little loose you'll get that hum. You might also try replacing your cable too. If it became pinched somewhere it could cause that problem
