What a truly nice person you are pnky_14! Nice of you for trying to help!

The eMachines W3619 uses an ECS 945GCT-M3 motherboard.
The eMachines T2898 uses an Intel 845GVSR motherboard.

The Front Panel header layout is different.

rustmonkey23, I would like you to click on this link for the Motherboard Manual,

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/Downloads_Driver_Detail.aspx?MenuID=61&LanID=0&detailid=719

Where you see the headings Driver, BIOS, Manual,
left-click on Manual.

Now go to the bottom, and where it states Download Site, go to the right, and click on the country nearest yours.

Give it a few seconds to see the first page.
May take additional time to fully download.

(Medium speed DSL connection. The first page popped up within 3 seconds, and the entire file had downloaded)

Go to Page 11.

(Don't know if you are familiar with PDF files. The quickest way to get to Page 11;

At the top of the PDF file is a Page Number Box.
It is to the Right of the blue Down Arrow.

Put your mouse cursor in this box. Left-click once. Type 11
Press the Enter key)

Looking at the chart under the photo of the motherboard, you will see number 12 is Panel 1.
(Front panel switch/LED header

The Front Panel is the plastic front of your computer. Where the E power on LED light is, and so on.

The Front Panel header is the connector on the motherboard, where the cables, (Wires), of the Front Panel go to.

Looking at the photo of the motherboard, number 12 points to the Front panel header.

You can expand, (Enlarge) the page, and subsequently the photo of the motherboard.

Go to the top header again in the PDF file, and left-click on the Zoom In icon. (The + sign)

Notice, Processor to the Top, Ram Memory slots to the Right, and the Front Panel header is at the Bottom Right corner.

The motherboard is sitting the same way in your computer.

Now go to Page 33.

Enlarge the page to 150 percent. (150%)

Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 are along the Bottom.
Only Pin 1 and Pin 9 is identified in the chart.

Pins 2, 4, 6, and 8 are along the Top.
Only Pins 2 and 10 are identified.
There is NO Pin 10.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the Harddrive Activity LED light.
(HarDDrive)
If you see a wire with a Positive symbol on it ( + ) it goes to Pin 1

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for the Reset switch.

(IF used. This is a manual for the motherboard. Not for the computer. This motherboard has been used in Many computers.
The eMachines W3619 may Not have a Reset switch. {Reset button)

C) Pin 9 is Reserved. Used by the manufacturer to test certain functions of the motherboard. No need to worry about it.

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED light.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

The motherboard chipset is an Intel 945GC.
Intel 945GC Northbridge chipset, and Intel ICH7 Southbridge chipset.

(82945GC is the part number for the Northbridge chip.
ICH7 part number is Intel 82801GB. The Southbridge chip)

Would LIKE to hear back from you.

pnky14,

The eMachines T2898 uses an Intel D845GVSR motherboard.

The motherboard chipset is an Intel 845GV Northbridge chipset, and an Intel ICH4 Southbridge chipset.

(The part number for the Intel 845GV is 82845G.
ICH4 is 82801DB.
It is an I/O Controller Hub.
ICH
I/O stands for Input/Output)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets#Pentium_4_Chipsets

Intel D845GVSR Motherboard Manual download page, on Intel Support,

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+845+Chipset+Family+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Board+D845GVSR

Go to the right, and under the Select a Download Type, heading, left-click on Documentation.

Now on the left side of the page, under the sub-heading - 2 results matching, left-click on,
D845GVSR Product Documentation & Manuals.

Also a motherboard diagram, that may help explain the Northbridge, and Southbridge chipset,

(Motherboard Chipset.
Bear in mind that this motherboard chipset technology, does not apply to motherboards utilizing the new Intel i3, i5, and i7 processors)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Motherboard_diagram.svg

CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. Another term used is Microprocessor, or simply Processor.
Does NOT stand for PC. Personal Computer.

This is info about the Northbridge chip, to get you started,

N) Radeon, and Radeon R100 series, R200, R300, R420, R520, R600, R700, R800/Evergreen

Just though you might like to have this info, should you not have it.

    EDIT:

"The part number for the Intel 845GV is 82845G."

    Should read,

"The part number for the Northbridge chip is 82845G."

    Edit over.

The Norhbridge chip is under a Heatsink, on the motherboard.
The Southbridge chip generally is not.

(G-e-n-e-r-a-l-l-y. Do not carve that statement in stone. For some motherboards, the Southbridge chip DOES have a Heatsink)

The part number printed on top of the Southbridge chip is 82801DB.

Chip, and Chipset are slang terms for I.C.
    Integrated Circuit.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_...

This shows you a typical motherboard, and where the motherboard chipset is located on it, plus other info,

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Asus_a...

(You can click on the photo to enlarge. Then use a Zoom In icon { + )

The Northbridge chip, is under that aluminum meat tenderizer looking, Heatsink.
    Just above the Processor socket.

The Southbridge chip is the Nvidia chip to the upper Left.
    (MCP51-N-A2)

(The VIA VT6307 chip is a Firewire {1394a} host controller)

Nothing happens when I hit power button

If it uses the normal header pins for the front panel, trace the wire from the power switch back to the motherboard. Remove the connector and short the two power pins on the motherboard to see if it starts up.

Hello, You might have a bad motherboard and need to replace.
First, I know its a pain but disconnect and reconnect all cables verify that your not missing one of your power cables look for any connections on the board that don't have cables hooked up to it. take extra care when hooking up your power button cable. Its easy to accidentally place them in the wrong pin.

My Emachine was in storage for awhile, I brought it home hooked it up Hit the power Button and Nothing happened!

Check the power switch on the power supply. If it has one make sure it is on (1) and not off (0). Also check the red ac-type switch, make sure it is on 110v and not 220v. Good luck!

Gateway computer 310 series wont power up when

It sounds to me like the power switch is plugged into the motherboard incorrectly. I would need to know the type of motherboard you have to get you the proper schematic for hooking up the power switch and reset switch to the board. If you have the manual to the motherboard, there should be a detailed picture showing you how it is to be hooked up. Please let me know the motherboard model for further assistance.

Good Luck,

TRYING TO HOOK UP MU POWER BUTTON NEED TO KNOW

Hi there
The front panel connectors are mainly,
  • harddisk activity connector
  • power switch connector
  • reset switch connector
  • power LED connector
  • speakers connector
  • USB connector
Harddisk activity connector
This normally comes red in colour and is labeled as HDD-LED
Power switch connector
This comes green in colour and is labeled as POWER-SW
Reset switch connector
This usually comes grey in colour and is labeled as RST-SW
Power LED connector
This is usually green in colour and is labled as PWR-LED
Speakers connector
This speaker will give different beep sounds during boot to tell the user if there is any errors. It occupies 4 pins, however only 2 is important for the function. Be sure to connect the red coloured cable to the positive polarity and the black to the negative.
