2001 GT Eclipse Spyder..cranked this morning, both drive belts broke, harmonic balancer came apart..replaced balancer, belts, now it won't fire. I did find a piece of one of the drive belts intertwined in the timing belt. Thing is absolutely not getting any fire.
There are some jobs you just need a manual for. This is one of them. Go to Autozone and buy a haynes manual for your car (abot $20).
General procedure is to buy new timing belt. Make sure cylinder #1 is set at TDC.Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove engine covers to access timing belt and remove timing belt Make sure all components are properly aligned and loosen pensioner to remove old timing belt. Install new timing belt. Tension belt.Double check to ensure all components are aligned properly, replace timing belt covers and reconnect battery.
