My oven stopped working, broiler works also burners

I'd suggest testing to see if the burners are getting lit. If not, it might mean the ignitor has failed. To check the burner, select Bake to turn on the oven and then open the oven door. After a few seconds you should see an orange glow through the bottom of the oven and hear the hissing of the gas. If you don't, then the burners probably didn't light and I would suspect the ignitor. If it is the ignitor, this posting shows how I fixed my oven with the same problem:

Magic Chef oven won't lite. The ignitor glows red hot but no flame. After about 10 minutes of being on I start to smell gas. Not a strong smell but its in the air. I'm thinking gas valve. I did a...

The problem with your oven is that ignitor is weak and not drawing enough amprage to open the gas valve, the gas you smell was since the ignitor does come on it allowed the gas valve to open a wee bit but since ignitor is weak it wont allow gas valve to open fully. I know you going to doubt that what i'm telling you is correct, i base my diagnosis on my 30 years experience as a appliance repair technician.Replace ignitor and enjoy your baked meal

Gas does not come on for oven to light

im assuming that your cook top works fine and that the broil is working fine. You need to replace the oven ignitor. The automatic gas valve is equipped with a sensor that opens the valve. if the ignitor doesn't heat up the sensor, then the valve will not open. replacing your ignitor should solve the problem.

My Dynasty oven was not doing anything when we turned it on to bake. So we replaced the ignitor. Now the ignitor glows but still now gas? What next? Thanks

you have a bad gas valve or the ignitor is bad, just because it glows doesn't mean it's good,it opens the valve by need an amp meter with a clamp on attachment, stick one of the ignitor wires in the clamp and read it out,it should be 3.5 amps but if the ignitor is new i would change out the gas valve, also check the wires on the valve and read out the valve with a meter.also if the ignitor is glowing but the flame isn't liting you're having problems with the gas coming in,when the ignitor reaches 3.5 amps it opens the gas valve and the flame ignites, check the burner tube to make sure the old ignitor didn't burn a hole through it,you can check the orifice to make sure it's open, read the valve out and if all are good change out the gas valve.let me know what you find

GE profile JGSP44 Oven stopped working

Ignitor needs to be working for the gas valve to open. If the ignitor does not reach the proper amp draw the gas valve will not open. There is a video at this will walk you thru performing an amp draw test on the ignitor.

I have a kenmore gas range model # 362.7275590 Burners work and i replaced the electronic igniter and it glows but gas does not come on. gas valve is on.

With gas stoves its either or...if your ignitor is weak it may not allow the gas valve to open...a new ignitor and it works fine././/now you have a defective gas ignitor but no gas....The gas valve is wired through the ignitor and makes it difficult to diagnose...especially on here :)

Oven gas doesn't come ouy. Boiler works, ignitor

Ever though the ignitor glows it may still be bad. The gas valve circuit consists of the main oven control, the igniter and the valve coil. As a properly functioning ignitor heats up, it allows more current to flow through the circuit. It finally reaches the point where it opens the gas valve. A failing ignitor will not reach that point. The fact that it glows at all tells you the control contacts are closing and the gas valve coil is nt bad. ****If you try this repair, make sure to remove power from the unit. Be careful handling the ignitor as it is extremely fragile.

Oven not lighting on Amana model agds902ss

Helloemauldin Welcome to Fixya
My name is Huum,

When you turn the thermostat on your range on it sends 120 volts to the bake valve and ignitor. The bake valve and ignitor are wired in series and the ignitor draws all the current and heats up. As the ignitor heats its resistance changes and when it is cherry red the current switches to the gas valve and it opens. The amp draw on the ignitor needs to be 3.2-3.6 amps for the gas valve to open. The gas valve has gas to it at all times. The gas valve should open within 40 seconds after the ignitor starts to glow.
If the ignitor is glowing red and the gas valve doesn’t open the ignitor is usually the problem. Sometimes the ignitor will glow red but the resistance doesn’t change and the gas valve doesn’t draw the current.

This is not a do it your selfer!
