If you have important files on the drive I would suggest removing the drive from the system, placing the drive in an external inclosure (or you could hook it up direct to another desktop as a slave drive) then backup your personal documents.

After confirming that all the documents have been saved I would then format and reinstall the operating system and programs and finally copy all the old files back onto the drive.

Let me know if you have any questions or need specifics.

My IBM r40e sometimes does a blue screen data dump, then recycles back to the start screen and continues as normal until the next time

There are many reasons that could cause this. These could be:
-error in registry, try a registry repairing software, something like registry mechanic.
-a virus infection. run a full anti virus scan.
-search and download malwarebytes anti malware...it could also be caused by trojans infections.
-if you have a windows installation disk, run it and click on repair windows.
-last of all is a hardware failure causing this.

Hope gives you an idea of what to do.

ThinkPad Blue Screen of Death

Sometimes the blue screen can be caused by bad memory, but if it is doing it right when you try to sign in every time, it is probably a software corruption in windows. I have solved this problem by doing a repair install of windows xp, I am not sure if is an option on other os, if you google it you will find directions, you boot off the windows install disk and this option saves your programs and data.

Cannot use internet and the comp goes into blue screen and dumping physical memory.then unable to shut down.comp tells of conflicting hard or soft ware but cannot get to remove it

Hello there:
If you cant get the computer to uninstall this in the safe mode or if you cant even get to the safe mode yo are going have to use your system restore disk if you have one and use it to repair the windows version that you have if you dont have the restore disk you can repair the current version using the disk that you have bu putting the disk in and restarting the computer
once it starts lt it start and press any key when it asked than after that enter the f-8 key and do not say repair let it go into the install of your operating syste than it will show you your windows versiion that you have and then it wil ask you if you want to repair this version of windows now say yes and follow the screen it will repair it and reinstall the corrupted file '(s) ok
best regards michael

IBM R51 - "Registry Cannot Load"

I had the exact same problem. I basically gave up and decided to reinstall the O.S. But when I did it gave me an option to upgrade rather than install, and I found that all my programs and files were still there after. So you coulkd do that. I found out that some of the O.S. was corrupt via a virus so this was solved also.

If you are able to: download a free program called "glary utilities" It is a registry fix and system optimizer that runs automatically.

Help am getting blue screen on my laptop...not loading xp

First of all if u r getting the blue screen what is the stop code and what is the error, is it saying physical dump of memory,or it says like stop code; 0x000000ed or something like that,in these case if it is just physical dump of memory and the main thing is from how long r u getting the blue screen, and did u install any new software or hardware, and what u can do is disconnect the ac adaptor and take out the battery from the computer and then press and hold down the power button without the ac adaptor and the battery for one minute and then turn on the computer and still if u get it then reseat the memory of the computer and then reseat the hard drive of the computer and still if u getting it then u need to repair the operating system with the help of the windows operating system disk and if u r ready to lose the data from the computer then u can reinstall the operating system and after reinstalling the os also if u get a blue screen then definitely u need to replace the hard drive of the computer.and if u don’t want to loose ur data u can repair the os with the help of windows os disk.,try it out it will definitely help u out…thanks

Depending on what operating system you are using, I suggest repairing the operating system. For windows xp here is a guide that you can follow http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm.

Toshiba

Hi,

Most Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with memory dump is caused by memory problem or the swap file in the hard disk.

You can try removing the memory (underneath the laptop) and clean the little gold pins using a pencil eraser. It would also be helpful if the mating connectors could be cleaned using a soft new paint brush.

The hard disk, disk utility can be used to clean & repair such as Windows' Scandisk or Symantec/Norton's Disk Doctor.

In some cases this problem is also brought about by the addition of a new hardware/driver that causes conflicts. This can be verified by removing the hardware or rolling back the driver.

These problem would also surface in instances where the hard disk's OS was installed using another computer and transplanted to the Toshiba later on. No solution but to reinstall the OS on-board the Toshiba.

If your concern has not been corrected after completion of the above procedures, you may need to seek the services of a qualified professional.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
