I have a Relisys PC monitor that has decided to show an Auto Adjustment window for most of the time. I cannot get rid of the message - nor turn off the monitor without disconnecting the power supply. Any ideas

    Thanks for your reply.

The problem first arose earlier today - and I switched off the monitor for about 7 hours. But then when I switched it back on again, the message was still there.

I will leave it overnight and see if it still occurs.

    Thanks again.

    Hello again

The monitor was off for 12 hours overnight, but still displayed the same problems at switch on.

I searched to buy another monitor for about 30 minutes. Theh, the Auto Adjustement message disappeared and I was able to use all functions!

Odd - but it is still OK, two hours later.

  • philip358 Aug 22, 2010

After thinking the problem had gone away - after a further six hours or so, it has returned.

Other responses from this web site sugest a faulty memory strip or a bad graphics card.

But would those prevent switchign on and off the monitor?

  • philip358 Aug 22, 2010

    Thank you.

The problem disappeared for about six hours and has now returned. If your solution is correct, would that explain why I cannot turn off the monitor. That factor seems to suggest a monitor fault rather than PC.

    Any further thoughts?

I have a Relisys monitor that has worked fine for several years.

Yesterday, a message Auto Adjustment.. appeared on the screen and I couldn't get rid of it. It was also impossible to turn off the monitor with the on/off button.

Today, after leaving the monitor off overnight, the problem was still there for about an hour. Then it cleared itself, and everything was back to norml.

Now the problem has returned. Message is still the same and a problem with on/off.

  • philip358 Aug 22, 2010

    Thanks, Drifter.

The buttons on this monitor are not as you describe. There are arrowed function buttons to the right of the on/off button and arowed +/- buttons to the left.

Pressing any of them does not produce a menu. Pressing the two functions keys at the same time removes the offending message - but it reappears when the buttons are released.

Sadly, my wife's hair dryer only produces hot air!

  • philip358 Aug 23, 2010

    Thank you.

When I switche don the monitor this morning the problem was stil there. However, on pressing both of the function buttons att he same time, the Auto Adjustment message disappeared! I have tried that before without success.

Maybe it really is time for a new monitor!

    Thanks again.

  • philip358 Aug 24, 2010

    Thanks for that.

Trial and error has revealed that the problem will dispear for a while if I press both function arrowed keys at the same time. However, this is only a temporary fix and the problem re-appears after a while.

I think it may be time for a new monitor.

There's is no certain steps to get rid of this and there's neither specific cause. For most people and the commonest cause is the Buttons on the monitor. When a button is stuck or pushed in, this problem happens, try to work around with all the buttons. Since all the buttons don't work for specific function, means they work together and suppose if the menu button is stuck, this may happen or the other way. Try with random tapping on all the buttons. Also you can try this, when the Auto Adjustment window appears, press the menu or the Auto button. Most of the time this helps.
There's another settings, Right-click on the Desktop, select "Graphic Properties" and reset the settings to it's default value by clicking "Restore Default" or "Default" or just "Restore", depends on the type of graphics card installed.

Sometimes, you need to open the monitor and check the button circuit, when they are stuck and shorted, this happens, you can clean it or you can re-solder them if necessary.

Make sure that the cables and connected firmly and properly. Also verify that the cable is 100% "Ok". You can try with another cable.

I wish you good luck.

The problem is entirely in the monitor - either the menu buttons stuck or the processor of the monitor is dying and locks up.
Take the monitor apart and disconnect the buttons on the case from the mainboard - with the monitor running. If that fixes it then you must find out a way to fix the buttons (or replace it - if you can find them). If that doesn't then the processor - and the whole monitor with it - is dead. Time for a new one.

Probably one of the button is stuck pressed...try to press the repeatedly ..specially the menu ..or the auto button ...and see what can be wrong ..cause this window appears only when the auto adjust button is pressed ..or the menu ...
first try to select from the arrows the exit ..and press the menu (square -rectangle one ) to confirm ...ut the issue is more than sure the button being stuck ..or making false contact from the humidity or something like that ..
if it continues to do so ..try to blow dry cold air from a hair dryer ...I repeat ...cold ...upon the buttons in hope that any humidity present will evaporate ...if it persist you will have to open it to see what is wrong with that button being stuck ..

Hi, If your pc suddenly starts to act strange and keeps displaying the following message, "AUTO ADJUST IN PROGRESS", it is most likely caused by a problem with the installed system memory.
This problem usually occurs immediately after a power failure or power surge.
There are a few recent quotes suggesting the problem relates to monitor errors or even a virus, in general however this is incorrect.
I have suffered with this very problem, and after many sleepless nights and much head scratching, identified exactly where the problem originates.
For the solution, remove all installed memory and boot the system up, after the audio bleeps to inform a system error, turn back off.
Now select one strip of memory, re install and then re boot.
If the pc still remains unstable or does not boot correctly, then this could identify this strip of memory to be at fault, in which case, switch off, remove and replace with another strip of memory, once you have identified the rogue memory and removed it from your system, you will find that this will have sorted the problem out.
Cause of problem: memory shorted by power surge.
Always remember that once you have shelled out all that hard earned cash for your pc, it's worth spending just a little more and buy a good surge protector to plug your pc into, to get the problem fixed.

Those are usually fairly reliable monitors but you could have a failure on the main board.

To clear the error you need to unplug the monitors power and let it sit for a 10 minutes or so.Then plug it back in. The monitor should then reset itself if it is going to and you won't see the menu anymore. If it doesn't want to reset then you can try leaving it unplugged longer. The idea is to get it to cool down this time. Over night would be good. If it then starts up runs fine for a while without the message then the problem is overheating. You can feel the vents and you should be able to feel warm air. If its hot or uncomfortable then you need to blow out the dust with compressed air. If it it won't reset and clear and it isn't too hot then there may be a cmos memory problem on the board. This is where the sensed and user settings get stored. At that point I'd just go buy a new monitor as it isn't cost effective to fix monitors these days.

Hi! Looks pretty much a graphic card problem. As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you reinstall the graphic card driver and see if it will go back to normal. If the problem still persists then its definitely a faulty graphic card and will surely need replacement to correct this. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

If the solution can't resolve this. I believe that it's time to replace the monitor due long time usage.

sounds like an overheating problem. you can try blowing out the back of the monitor, or putting a fan close to it. If it is really dirty it will shut itself off so as to not get damaged. is it crt, or lcd?

AUTO ADJUSTMENT LOCKED BOX FLASHES ON THE SCREEN ALL THE TIME.

Depends of what seems to be a problem.
If you want to get rid of that message box, appearing by itself, then probably you need to take front panel PCB with buttons and replace "Auto" one, 'cause it's stuck.
If you want to unlock an Auto Adjustment and other functions in your monitor, then press and hold 'Enter' button for 5 seconds.

My monitor is showing constant 'auto adjustment in progress' in every 3 sec, i cannot get rid of it.i cannot watch any movie or read my email.constant getting black out and showing me that same msg

it happens because you have selected( accidentally or otherwise) the resolution that the monitor cannot handle easily. So each time turn on the computer the screen tries to adjust itself to work with the resolution that you have selected. Select a screen resolution that the monitor can handle and work with.
