PHILIPS MAGNAVOX RED RETRACE LINES AFTER 8 MINS.

PHILIPS MAGNAVOX : MODEL 55PP9401 SET PLAYS FINE FOR ABOUT 8 MINS. THEN COMES THE RED RETRACE LINE, THEN SHUTS OFF.

CHECK THE SCREEN CONTROL BLOCK SEEMS TO BE GOOD (SWAPED RED & GREEN SCREEN LEADS).

COULD NOT SWAP THE SOCKETS , THEY HAD DIFFERENT CONNECTIONS.
SO I BROUGHT IT IN.
ANY IDEARS??.

You could have either a bad CRT drive circuit or a shorted red CRT. If you need parts , here is a site that has both parts available used that they sell cheap and ship for free and any used part is guaranteed. Heres the link drop them an email they will get back quickly.

Tv works like 10 min.then retrace lines appear,

the model number 53fdx....etc is not a Toshiba model number---It is a Hitachi model number.

First if it comes on and you get trace lines before it shuts off----does it just get very bright and if so does it get bright red, green, or Blue?

if one of the picture tubes or the circuit around them has a problem you can get this and the set will shut down because it detects something is pulling way too much current.

I would be happy to try to help you but look at back of your set for brand and model number and if possible try to give me a better idea of what the picture looks like before it goes out.

Too much yellow does not adjust with normal drop screen adjustments. can i adjust the light beams.on my philips 50"

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} 1. Turn the green screen control on the Focus Block until retrace lines appear and gradually turn it back
Until the point where you can see the retrace line disappears, just before cutoff.
2. Turn the red screen control on the Focus Block until retrace lines appear and gradually turn it back
Until the point where you can see the retrace line disappears, just before cutoff.
3. Turn the blue screen control on the Focus Block until retrace lines appear and gradually turn it back
until the point where you can see the retrace line disappears, just before cutoff.
4. If the screen still appears too bright after proper G-2 adjustment, you need to adjust the sub-bright adjustment in the service menu
control down until screen cut-off. (Service data Range is usually 21 to 25 in the Service menu, for Sony sets you first go to category "MCP2", & then adjustment item 01( "SBRT")= subright.
For electrical the focus, put on the screen a clear picture of your choice thru an input of the TV set from a DVD, then pause the playback of the DVD Look into each color and rock that color focus control back and forth (turn the control one way then the other way slowing down as the picture goes into the best focus. till the picture looks sharp do each color till they all look in focus. NOTE: it is best to look into each color tube to achieve the best electrical focus. For optical focus please follow the manual lens adjustment in the sets service manual

Intellisense button

If the model number on the set is 55PP9401/55 you have an interesting set----this model says Philips but was made by Hitachi---they made them for Philips for one year while Philips was gearing up to produce their own sets---very good set and is better than the Philips sets that came after it.
It uses (if it is this model) two STK-392-110 CONVERGENCE IC's----both need to be replaced and the set adjusted---no need for an original remote---with the set engaged in the convergence adjustment mode( there is a micro switch on the front of the main circuit board) A HITACHI REMOTE CAN THEN BE USED TO ADJUST THE CONVERGENCE. Hope this was helpful.

Problem with HDTV on my Philips 55PP9401.

it is not reccommended for game console to be played on a projection t.v because projection tv's have three color bulbs in them and the conversion is different and if it happens to work it has been known to have burn the games image in the screen after awhile.. usually the store doesn't tell youthat unless you ask them about playing game consoles on a projection tv

Have power but no sound or picture

Do you have high voltage? Check by turning up one of the screen controls to see if you have retrace lines.(pinstripe diagonal lines across the screen) If present turn the screen control back down until the lines just disappear. Check diodes 6003, 6012, 6025, and resistor 3669. If you don`t get a retrace line by turning up the one of the screen controls, check for missing voltages or shorted components in the horizontal output and power supply circuits. Note: Philips TV`s can be tricky even for experienced technicians. Good luck

Philips 55PP9401 Green Out?

This is a PP15 Philips Chassis Designation.
It's based on the DP15 Hitachi Chassis w/ Different Micro.
Hitachi DP15 Model: 53UDX10B
It's most likely that the convergence amps have failed and if you have little experience in electronics I'd STRONGLY suggest you take this one to the shop.
This set takes two STK392-110 Ics and it's recommended you upgrade those to the STK392-150s for greater reliability.
They make a nice kit complete with all conv. Ic's and all (6) resistors and complete instructions. Tritronics carries them part # X480295 (Jt22053 Repair Kit).

Phillips/Magnavox 9P5544C102 white raster and shuts down

This denotes a problem called blooming the horizontal lines you see are called retrace lines this is caused by the increase in anode voltage which could be caused by an increase in HV section current which trips the overcurrent protection dircuit and turns the TV off.If you do not have electronics experience I would suggest taking the set to a TV repair shop.
