I had Print Shop 10 installed on Vista. After a hard drive replacement, I cannot reinstall it. I need to retrieve my files. The clean install I used before is not working. Any suggestions?

If you have the old hard drive , hook it up to your computer as a secondary unit and boot up with your new replacement. Then using windows explorer access the secondary drive, retrieve the files you want and either transfer them to an external usb stick or create a directory on your new drive and transfer them there until you can get a fresh copy of your program installed on new drive.

Reinstall windows 7 programs

So you decided not to jump from Windows XP to Windows VISTA. but now you're ready to LEAP forward into Windows 7.

First, you will want to BACKUP ALL of your programs.

Since you did not upgrade to VISTA, you will LOOSE all of your programs when you upgrade to Windows 7, so be sure to backup all of your programs and files.

If you wish, you can use an external hard drive and a program called WINDOWS EASY TRANSFER to make this task easier.

See the link below for this FREE program.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2b6f1631-973a-45c7-a4ec-4928fa173266&DisplayLang=en

Now, for the fun part! Insert the Windows 7 disc into the computer and start or restart the computer.

Follow the onscreen instructions to completely install Windows 7.

You will now need to reinstall each of your programs.

If you used Windows Easy Transfer, you can use the list of programs that it prints out to be certain that you reinstall all of your programs.

Hope this helps.

I have an i mac and windows 7 laptop.......the laptop is brand new and i want to transfer all my music and movies from my mac......can this be done and if so how???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

> transfer from Mac to PC ... how ?

Several ways:

* use Ethernet cables to connect the network-port on each computer to a "router" (one of those boxes that "splits" your Internet signal, and might provide "wireless" access inside your home), and then enable "file-sharing" on both computers.
Then, the computers can "talk" to each other, via the router.

* write all the files to an external storage device, e.g., USB memory-stick or Western Digital Passport device. Move the device to the other computer, and copy from the device onto the computer.

* "burn" all the files to CD-recordable or DVD-recordable disks.
Move the disks to the new computer.

I want to hook up an external hard drive to increase the record time available for my Motorola DCH3416 cable box. I already have drives with eSata, USB, and firwire ports.

From the Motorola FAQs:

How do I transfer my programs from my Motorola DVR to an external device like a computer or hard drive? trnsp.gif Question How do I transfer my programs from my Motorola DVR to an external device like my computer or hard drive?
trnsp.gif Answer No. Currently you can't offload recorded content to any external device from a Motorola DVR, even though the data ports are there, the software doesn't support it yet. When the option becomes available through a software upgrade, it will be downloaded to DVR automatically by service providers/cable companies.

If you install Windows Vista over a network, additional hard disk space may be required.

  • 32 MB of graphics memory
  • 20-gigabyte (GB) hard disk that has 15 GB of free hard disk space

Cannot transfer roots web files from windows xp to routed laptop vista

Most Windows files cannot be copied and / or transferred if they are in use. The only want to actuallt copy and transfer files of that nature is to remove the hard drive and use a usb adapter to attach it to another computer and access the hard drive as if it was an external, since the hard drive is not being used to boot the system all the files will be available. Just make sure that before you do anything, go to control panel > folder options > view > click on show system files and folders. This will allow you to be able to see all files and folders regarless of what they are.

I'm not overly familiar with Vista yet, but I believe that you will have to delete these as administrator. Use the Vista help menu, you'll find it there. If it's a program file you will need to uninstall, versus delete, from the add/remove programs in the control panel.
