Remove the power cord that goes from the speakers to the monitor. Use the 12 VDC power unit that plugged into the monitor. Plug it directly into the back of the right speaker where you removed the other cable. Plug it in and the speaker will work. That is what I did and works fine.

This monitor does not have built-in speakers. It looks like you will need to use external speakers for your audio.

Is my AOC 9170 monitor compatible with HP Pavillion 6523W Windows 7? Does this monitor have built in speakers?

Hi there,

I am not sure about the speakers. The best way to tell if it has speakers is if you can physically see them. They are usually located at the bottom of the monitor and they look like little screens on either side of it. If it doesn't have HDMI or a line in jack (speaker plug) that you can see then it won't have built in speakers for sure.

If the monitor has the right connections to plug into your HP computer, which it should. Then it will work with your computer. Your computer has both VGA and DVI monitor connections on it so either of these should work as long as your monitor has the connections (which it should have at least one).

It might be that the screen resolution set on the pc is too high for the monitor to display.
try hooking up the flat panel monitor again. (CRTs can have a flat screen as well)
lower the screen resolution to 1024 X 768 pixels click save.
hook up the other monitor to see if that was the problem.
If you can get the monitors menu to come up on the monitor try setting it to factory defaults.

If no luck, does the monitor work on another PC?

Let me know if this helps you or not.
Thank you

No sound

Are you connecting the speakers to the green port on the sound card. If so, check in "Control Panel" that the P.C can see the sound card and that it is the "Preferred" play back device.

Yes, the connector next to the speaker connector is for the power adapter. It's different from the speaker plug so you can't put it in the wrong place. Hopefully you got the right power adapter with the monitor.

Here's the page at HP's site where you can download the User's Guide for this monitor. Hope this helps.

No sound out of monitor speakers

Is there actually any unknown devices in the device`manager?

Are your monitor speakers USB or do they plug into the audio out jack of your sound card or motherboard???

If they plug into the sound jack, then test the sound output with a pair of headphones.

Hope this helps you narrow it down. Please reply back if you need further help
